I have done this hundreds of times, both with a skateboard in the summer, and with shoes/boots or snowboard in the winter. Sometimes the driver was in on it for fun, other times... they were unknowing participants.

A car goes by and you hurry and grab it at a stop sign while the driver doesn't know. Done that too with a skateboard, snowboard or the shoes I'm wearing.

Getting a free ride somewhere.

It helps that around here they don't plow roads in the winter, until you get into the big city where the wimps who are afraid of snow live.

I am a total rebel, and now a warning to those who may want to try it.

Make sure to not get your face ripped off when they hit the brakes and avoid sliding under the vehicle.

Yes I do have some scars 😂, mostly from falling when first attempting to grab hold of the bumper and got moving pretty good and I lost my grip.

Trucks work best, they have real bumpers, not cars with plastic bumpers with nothing to grab.

You can grab a wheel well though if your real good.

Not recommending anyone try this, I live very rural so rush hour is 3 cars an hour on my road.

I used to do this. One time we had a blizzard and I was going to visit a friend who lived in another town. I was going to hitchhike but there was no traffic so I grabbed the back ov an electric company truck and got a ride all the way. It was probably about 6 or 7 miles.

When I was a kid we called it "bumpering". I didn't do it with strangers' vehicles, but once or twice with a friend's older brother's car with his permission. It worked best if you wore smooth leather moccasins.

I've heard it called a lot of different things, bizzing... bumpering, and other names I don't even recall anymore.

I've done on bike, skateboard and roller skates. Never in snow because we didn't have any.
It's fine to go fast on a bike. But I only did it on residential streets on skateboard or skates.

I did once... not the smartest idea I had since I struggled with staying behind the car. Ended up drifting out to the sides and almost got turned into a hood ornament.
