Ok so I went on Accutane to (mainly) treat this terrible back acne I had. I mean... it was so bad and nothing worked. Accutane was the only thing that worked and although I’m still left with some scarring, it’s soooo much better! Obviously, my face cleared up too.
NOW: here’s the dilemma. My back hasn’t reverted or relapsed to what it used to be but my face is seeming to get bad again. And I don't know why my face is bad but not my back. I’m thinking about going for a second round for my face.
Will a second round work? Will it also make my back even CLEARER? Or could the second round potentially mess up my pores and make my back bad again? (Accutane actually changes the shape of your pores) If I say I want to go back on Accutane, will my doctor allow it?
Pleaseeee help! Has anyone gone through it or at least know what could happen or if it would work? Thank you so much in advance for any help 🙏🏼
I’ve been dealing with acne for a long time, several years. It used to be so horrendous that I was extremely close to taking accurate myself, but all the side effects scared me from going through with it. I’d rather deal with red spots all over my face than liver failure. It is not a natural thing to have acne, if you have it, it means there’s something wrong internally and your body is using acne as a sign to alert you, a problem that accutane cannot fix. It’s inflammation within the body that is coming out through your skin. I did a ton of trial and error and this is what worked for me... 1. I cut dairy out of my diet. My skin cleared up immediately. Dairy is extremely inflammatory and it can reck havoc in people’s bodies 2. I always wear clean clothes 3. I wash my bedsheets once a week, every week without fail and use a new clean pillowcase every night 4 I wash my face every morning and night with a gentle cleanser by the brand CeraVe, and follow up with a gentle lotion by the same brand. 5. I bought a aloe plant and I cut off a little piece every night and rub the gel on my face. It helps to clear up the red marks and has lots of additional health benefits I’ve also seen many people on YouTube with bad acne switch their diet to a healthy plant based diet, and their skin became crystal clear. Yes a lot of what you mentioned is what I do already. Maybe not totally dairy free though because I love cheese lol but liver failure? Don’t you think that’s a bit extreme? 😟
Liver failure is one of the side effects of accutane. There’s many more side effects people often experience, but that’s the only one I could remember. Also maybe your acne is caused by stress? A new laundry detergent? A new body soap? Lack of hydration?
Yes there are more side effects, but I think things like liver failure are very rare. They’ve got Accutane down to a science now. And IF you were to be that unlucky handful of people that react negatively to it, they’d know. They’d pull you off the medicine. They require you to get your blood drawn the first two months. This makes sure you’re reacting well to it. So I think a lot of precautions go into making it safe.
Anyways, I am pretty stressed because of school, but that’s never had an effect on me. I don't know it’s just so confusing because if something was wrong in my body as you mentioned, then my back would also being breaking out too again, but gets its doing great 😕 so I’m not sure. Maybe I’m not using the right skincare products? (They get soooo expensive month after month)
it works overnight and it will cure redness really really fast and it's acidic so it will clean your pores, it won't dry out your skin unless you use it too much, but it's good to not use it too much because then you will run out quicker haha
I understand, how many products did you use though, some salylic acid products didn't work for me but clean and clear did, thats why I recommend it because it works so fast and is so noticeable and everything else has always just left me guessing if it would work or not. For now I say drink a lot of water and moisturize your face
Yes a second round is needed. I took it as a teenager and my son is currently taking it and just started his second and final round. After that second round it will not return.

So the same would apply for my back? A second round won't screw with it or negatively affect it?
I was worried about messing up one thing while trying to fix the other, so that’s great to hear!
And thankfully, my symptoms were not bad at all. Probably the nosebleeds being the worst. My overall experience with Accutane was great, so that’s why I’m really looking into going on the second round. Thank you so much! 😊
Keflex is just a simple antibiotic that has sulfur in the ingredients. Sulfur seems to have antibacterial effects against the bacteria that cause acne. My doctor was like let's "for shits and giggles" try this... I swear to you that is what he said and my acne was cleared up in 2 weeks.
Funny thing is he was my dermatologist and he died like a year later. So when I had break outs after that... I had to actually go into my general doctors office and explain to him... Look Doc I know this sounds crazy but I need 500 mg of Keflex 30 count bottle for my break out. Please don't ask me how this works but it does... most Doctors didn't argue with me because thankfully then knew Keflex is used for skin bacteria infections.
It worked for me not saying it will work for you but damn it's worth a shot.
