What's the first trip you ever took with YOUR OWN MONEY?

I am a fan of the drive sometimes more than the destination, so living in Texas, I decided for my 25th birthday, to try and visit as many major cities as I could + Louisiana in a week. I made it to Galveston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and New Orleans. Got in my car with 2 books on tape, and hit the open road. All told, I drove about 38 hours between the cities by myself. I only stayed nights in hotels in San Antonio and New Orleans, otherwise, I drove to a destination for the day and drove back home the same day. It was wild. I had a great time, especially in NOLA--since it was last minute, I got a super cheap deal on a hotel literally in the French Quarter, and I remember the lady at the front desk being so nice, and giving me a postcard so I could send it to my parents to let them know I was okay. It was also the first time I felt like a real adult because I booked everything, made all the plans, traveled by myself, stayed by myself, had to navigate by myself. Great memories.

I planned for a trip to something like Turkey but what it ended up on instead was multiple visits to the medical centers and getting treated and surgeries.

I visited my BFF in South Carolina then we went to visit our other BFF in Atlanta for my birthday week. I made more money than my friends at the time so I paid for everything. That’s when I realized how easy and fun traveling was.

With my own money, it had to be Las Vegas. Did some gambling but mostly went to shows that were really good. I got to see Phantom of the Opera and went on the Vegas version of the gameshow The Price Is Right.

Yes, very much, except for the scammers. But I was there during COVID and there were almost no tourists
