This is entirely opinion. It sounds like you like big cities. In that case, you might like NYC.
For me, I stay as far away from that place as I can. People from other countries obviously hear a lot about NYC. But to Americans, I think the large majority don't give a shit about NYC. Probably most have never been there, or anywhere close to it. The US is very large, and NYC is a tiny dot at the very edge of the map.
For me, there are a few touristy things I wouldn't mind seeing there, but unfortunately I'd have to go to NYC to see them. I've been there three times - twice as a kid and once as an adult. I have zero desire to go again. None of the attractions in NYC are a big deal. They are VERY low on my list of things to see in the US. So it's just not worth it to me.
Even if you like big cities, I'm not sure what you'd do there. I suppose the obvious tourist places like Statue of Liberty and Empire State building. If you like Broadway type shows, absolutely go there. Is there something in particular that you want to see?
It's difficult for foreigners to see the US. The US is just too big to easily see. Most Americans haven't even seen much of it, and don't truly even know their own country. The ONLY way to get a good feel for the US is to start at one end and drive to the other - ideally doing a lot of looping around in between.
It takes an absolute minimum of three weeks to do it, and that would be extremely rushed and you'd miss almost everything. You really need at least 6-8 weeks of traveling by land to see the US and get a feel for what it's all about. Even then you're skipping through things pretty quickly.
That's just not something most people (foreign or American) can do. But anything else is basically just playing into stereotypical places like NYC, DC, SF, or LA.
If you go to NYC, you don't even see NY. You barely touched it. Some parts of NY are very nice. But if you only see the big city off in the corner, you'd miss all the good stuff.
The last time I was there which was 2008 it was a pretty cool p;ace/ We went to a bunch of tourist traps. The Statue of Liberty was impressive and Ellis Island was interesting. My wife's grandfather came through Ellis Island in the 30s and we fo. his ship';s manifest and saw his name. The bronx Zoo was cool and we walked through Greenwich Village. We went up in the Empire State Building and saw the Yankees play in the old Yankees Stadium before it was torn down.
As a tourist I would not go to NYC. If you don't know your way around they will play you they are dangerous and unfriendly. There are a lot of gentrified areas and if you don't know the difference you're screwed. If you go anywhere in NY aim for Manhattan it is the wealthier side of NY.
Miami has great food, night life and very competitive as far as women. If you're looking for a man than honey you better have the body of a goddess cause those girls do. If you're a man looking for a woman, if you have no money you don't stand a chance. If you're just going to enjoy the culture, food and drink then go.
Washington - haven't been
California - highly reccomend its more tourist friendly as far as the people.
My family and I came to the US when I was 10 and lived in NY for over 30 years. Till Covid hit…we then moved to Connecticut. there is a t-shirt with I❤️NY 😂…I used to hated that shirt till I started to explore the city. Then I realized that the city is really cool… granted I have also visited HK, Hawaii, Tokyo, London, rio de janerio and other big cities. So NYC…it’s one of a kind…
So 2 summers ago, we traveled through France and met an amazing family who we stayed over at their air b&b in Avignon. We got to know them well and visited again last summer…in term, their two 18 yr old came to NY for two weeks and stayed with us. We took them to the freedom tower. To Chinatown, Central Park, SOHO, Washington DC…etc… If we visit you next time and get to know you、we too will be glad to host you here.
I like Avignon because our friends were there and our kids played together…our two families also drove to Marseille for a day trip. I really like Norway and the alps. I can’t say which country since they are all very different and unique. This summer we will travel to Asia so, these will be new countries we haven’t been to. Like Thailand… we will go back to France 2025… maybe visit your town.
We drove from Munich to lake como Italy, I don’t remember if we drove through Liechtenstein or Austria… either way… we didn’t stop by either countries, however I recalled the mountains were just so amazingly beautiful through those areas. There are still much to see through Europe.

NY is fun if you have the right people to go with. There so much to do and eat it’s pretty endless. I’ve been to New York 7 times now and I’ve yet to complete everything from my list. It’s expensive for sure and touristy things mean sometimes you might get scammed so be very cautious.

I live in new york city for 30 years almost. It is a fun place to visit but not a good place to live forever, date, start a family. The longer you stay here, the more you will see that this place goes beyond the shiny lights. People here are not kind or friendly. People date for fun, not to commit. People here are all about money, not relationships or love. Cost of living here is also unreasonable and outrageous. Living conditions are amongst the worst in the US. Easy to meet people, hard to maintain friendships
Not since Rudolph Giuliani was Mayor and had enough supporters in the local government. That was probably "Peak New York", when people, particularly younger women were actually coming back into the city, to live the life that then contemporary television shows like "Sex And The City" and "Friends" pitched to them. Since then, it has gone downhill. But it may not yet be 1970's awful, so there is *that*.
I've never been to New York myself.. Butz these days I haven't heard much good about it honestly.. Some parts have streets full of trash, and a lot of homeless people roaming around.. Washington and Miami are okay, just avoid Miami during the spring break time.. LOL..

It used to be. Liberal policies mean crime has exploded, people piss on the streets, it’s become a nightmare. Also it’s so modern and ir makes me sick.
I can’t stand all the LED lights and modern architecture. NYC 20 years ago was great. It sucks now

It kinda depends what you really like. If you want to go to a big city New York be a good choice however Miami be better if you like going to the beach. If you want to see the country side you probably go to the midwestern states like Iowa, Kansas mostly farm states.

Everyone I've ever met from France always likes NYC. I think it's overrated (and I'm from there). I would suggest visiting the great natural beauty in the western US instead.
I love New York City. I haven't been there for a while and want to get back this year. When are in New York we go to museums, theater, jazz clubs, and a particular sing-along piano bar.
NY is still the best city in the world. You have all you want and need. The best restaurants, bars, museums, nightlife etc. Everyone you meet has an interesting story. The vibe of the city is not comparable.
The hell with New York, Miami, and DC. Go to the Redwoods, Sequoias, Big Sur, Niagara Falls, Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, Great Smokey Mountains, Arches National Park, etc
