Are beach front properties as good as they sound or is it an illusion, would you recommend dual properties?

I was thinking if I make the big dollars from my business it would be nice to have a beach front property in America. And if it is too hot in the summer, it might make sense to have a winter property and a summer property and then work online or put the money into investments and earn passive income while raising a family or taking care of extended family. I don't mean with my boyfriend's money but with my own earnings. I don't know if we will marry but I think it might be a good idea. I guess our city could also be a good place to live if you have the money for cool things like golfing and horse back riding. I've lived frugal cause a lot of what I had was invested into my business.

Beach front properties are expensive for a reason: they're desirable, but they're also subject to being completely destroyed/wiped away via storms and erosion, plus the salt air means a lot of expensive maintenance. Wood dry-rots extremely quickly, metals rust away like crazy, so you either replace those things constantly or you use more expensive materials (brick/masonry, plastic/vinyl, concrete, etc.). Seaside air also corrodes cars, bicycles, BBQs, and anything else made of wood or metal that's out in the air with unreal speed.

If you are wealthy enough to afford all of this, then, great. There are lots of rich people with seaside homes for a reason. There are very few middle-class people with seaside homes for a reason too.

There is currently a big problem on the West Coast - and in Florida - where insurers are refusing to insure these homes, because they've had to pay out on so many lost homes that it's not worth the risk. Many wealthy people have to self-insure to own their seaside homes, and that's even more cost.

With extreme weather phenomena and costal erosion becoming more regular, I would not recommend it. I just saw a documentary about German villages in river valleys having their household goods destroyed for the third time in ten years. They can’t even get home insurance in their location.
