In your opinion is Los Angeles a better city than New York?

LA has the nice weather, nice beaches, access to mountains and deserts, a rich Spanish/Asian/Jewish cultural mix, and a laid back vibe. The music scene has been magnificent since like the 1960s. The Dodgers recently won the world series too.

New York has Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani and is full of the typical "angry white men", uppity yuppies, and is crazy expensive. Weather sucks there too. Its only musicians are Kiss and Billy Joel. Oh and those Yankees tears...

I've been many times to Los Angeles. Haven't really been to New York. If you're factoring in geography and beaches, than Los Angeles for sure. You got the Channel islands too. NYC probably has more attractions and more iconic ones, but it was founded by the Dutch, whereas Los Angeles was founded by the Spanish, so it has a more exotic vibe. NYC has some other great and iconic musicians, but Los Angeles certainly has more/better ones. As someone who was raised on the West Coast, I find the East Coast quite dull compared to what we have here. When I was younger NYC interested me, now not so much, but if I had a long stop over, I would visit some sites. But I'd much rather revisit LA then visit NYC. There is some stuff in NYC that interests me, but nothing I'd make a special trip for.

LA is better, but only because of geography. Both LA and NYC are shitholes when you consider most of the people who live there.
