My wife has a close friend who has a pet sitting business. When we go on vacation, she stays at our house but can make trips to her house, which is about 30 min away, when necessary.
She also waters some plants when she is here.

She doesn't charge us much because we're friends. She and my wife work it out. I think it might be $20 per day.

We usually get one of our acquaintances or casual friends to do it cause they live close by and it's easier for them to come to our house on a regular basis to manage our pets. We have close ties that live a distance away and its not fair to ask them to come to our house every day to take care of our pets.
