Switzerland has a lot of tourists but they're mostly in Interlaken, Grindelwald, Zermatt and places like that. In Zürich there's also tourists but the city is big enough to absorb it. I don't get annoyed, but I can understand if you're a small town and you get overrun it's not fun.

There's this pier from the show Crash Landing On You which became super famous and so many people went there. Now you have to pay 5 bucks because the tourists would cause extra costs by leaving garbage and things like that and they wouldn't usually spend money in that one small village they'd move on. So the village reacted.

But I think in general it's fine as long as people can respect and adjust to how swiss people do things, I don't have any problems :)

Here's another reason for tourism in the second half of the video you can see Switzerland in 1995 :) Adjusted for inflation it's the 8th highest grossing Bollywood film of all time.

I'll be honest. Masses of tourists do annoy me. It's okay when it's a few of them, but when it's a bunch of people going around trying to take photos and taking their selfie sticks trying to get the best shots to show they're living the life for social media, I get pretty annoyed.

Whatever happened to just living in the moment? I'd be more okay if everyone wasn't trying to take photos all over the place and just walking around taking everything in, like how it should be.

Nowadays, most beautiful destinations are promoted on social media.

"You should go here for this view!"

"You should go here for this food!"

"The prices here are amazing!"

"This hotel gives you this amazing service you can't get anywhere else!"

And now when you go there it's a big line of sheep waiting for their turn to take a photo at the view, take a picture of their food, show how much their money got them, or show whatever amazing service they got.

I wish I could delete technology and society would regress.

No that has never been an issue in Sarasota, Florida US where I reside, however all we have is great weather and an abundance of great beaches and water for visitors. You on the other hand being from Europe, Italy to be exact have so many great sites from very early times and have kept many of your great cities similar as they have been for many many years without adding lots of modern hotels etc to destroy the origional beauty and trying to keep tourism to a minimum is a very smart move.

It's not a case of it annoying people but more a case of it impoverishing them. People find themselves pushed out and unable to afford rent or mortgages in their own home towns and villages and if they are lucky enough to own a home the local government forces them out with higher property taxes. Any benefit it provides to the local community such as jobs is limited as its only seasonal.

No, Leeds is a living city really. Nobody comes here to visit, and in fact we go to Manchester for nights out and events.

To say we are one of the biggest cities in England we have perfectly crafted ours into you either live here or traveled to work and back.

It gets really crowded during the months of July and August. Not that tourists annoy us, just the uncivilized ones who park their car in the best spots next to the beach and never move it. It makes getting around town more difficult for us residents.

But then again, we can enjoy the beaches from April all the way to October. So it's a bit of give and take.

Not so much in Seattle. When we travel to popular places, we go in the off-season. We don't have a checklist of famous things to see. We went to Paris in April and visited a lot of small museums in the neighborhood, a few parks, and enjoyed the cafe culture.

Yeah we do get I guess what you would call tourists and no they don't really annoy me or anyone else.

People come from all over the country and even the world for our state fair and our smallville Comic Con since our town is the literal town smallville superman's home town was based on.

But they also aren't coming in swarms of thousands like you would see in places like France, Italy, etc. We might have a hundred or a few hundred at a time. Nothing to crazy.

I live in the UK's Lake District where we host millions of tourists every year both from the UK and Internationally.

The only tourists that really annoy me are those who decide to walk the Fells (local mountains) without the right clothing/footwear/equipment, and have to rely on the local Volunteer Mountain Rescue Teams to find them and bring them down to safety. I believe those people should be charged for being rescued.

When they leave in winter you complain there is no money.

I have tourists in my country. They come from the cruise ships and walk around our city and waterfront.

Some have come up to me asking for directions and end up having a chat.

I'm sure these tourists complaining have been a tourist themselves.

My specific area, no. There are touristy places where the amount of tourists is noticeable (certainly at that silly "castle" Neuschwanstein), but it never gets as bad as e. g. Venice, Italy or the Eiffel tower in Paris.
