11 moSitting by my pool during the day. Probably my usual Friday night out with friends. Saturday maybe spare ribs on the smoker and burgers n hot dogs on the grill. Have some people over. Maybe set up the volleyball net. Just chill. Sunday, quiet time.

Sounds like a very fun weekend!

Yeah, we have fireworks in several towns locally here. But I don't like battling the crowds to get in and back out. I live on the top of 600 ft hill that overlooks the river where the fireworks barges are positioned on the water. I can stand or sit outside and see all the larger fireworks. My neighbors usually just do that with a glass of wine in hand. Easy. Zero travel time. All the comforts steps away.

11 moHeading up to one of the big lakes here. There's a big sandbar that we anchor on and drink. It's crazy to watch everyone on the lake launch all the fireworks.

For the 4th of July in South Carolina, how about planning a cozy day indoors with options for when the weather clears up? Consider visiting a local museum or exploring charming coffee shops. If the rain eases, you might head to a nearby sheltered beach or lake to enjoy a picnic. Prepare a backup list of indoor activities like catching a movie or trying out a new restaurant, and enjoy the day regardless of the weather! 🎆00 Reply

I am going to remember the WW1 Battle of Le Hamel which was 4th of July 1918.
I have just found out a forebear was in that battle and thought it appropriate to remember him on that date.
Australian General John Monash was knighted on the battle field of Hamel by George V , the first commander to be so honored in 200 years.
He cunningly planned it for 4th July in order to borrow some troops from Pershing who was resisting lending out American troops piecemeal at the time.
The first time American and Australian troops fought together. Possibly the first battle American troops were in aside from skirmishes. 14 medals were won that day plus a medal of honor.
Monash planned the battle to be 90 minute but it actually took a whole 93 minutes. It was significant in that all the elements of combined arms were brought together. Troops, tanks, aircraft. Ammo and even hot meals were dropped down to troops from planes.
A masterpiece by Monash and a prelude to the collapse of German lines. So well worth remembering.

11 moIs it really supposed to rain all next week? Ughhh. That means Friday, my day off is going to suck. Unless I get to hang out with my girl best friend.. we really don't know what our relationship title is tbh.
Anyway, if not hanging out with her, probably drinking and watching movies. I haven't done anything firework related in several years.23 Reply- 11 mo

11 moIt's some public holiday in the U. S. if I'm not mistaken.
In my own area there are different public holidays - and I have no clue what they are about either.
On days without the pressure to get some work done, I normally pressure myself to get some own work done.
But... without the pressure... if that makes sense.
