Do you use the cheaper airlines at the expense of having to pay for everything?

We found a cheap flight for a trip abroad. The only thing included as far as luggage is concerned is a small backpack going under the seat in front of us. We were considering taking one small suitcase, maximum 10 kg (22 pounds), the type that goes in the overhead locker, but the price is prohibitive and costs more than the ticket of one person.

I did the online check-in and was asked to pay for the privilege of selecting our seats, 12 € per person on the inbound flight and again on the return flight. Plus the privilege of joining a queue for quicker boarding. I refuse to pay for what should be included as standard, so now we have 3 different seats in opposite sections of the plane.

Sp, do you accept to pay extra or do you just try and fight the system?
