Airlines charging more for this?

Im torn on this. I feel bad someone is penalized for being sized. But I get their costs are going up which means ticket prices go up to.

You pay for the resources you use. If you use more space, for whatever reason, you pay for it. The way it's been, people have to sit crushed in their seats because a large person was taking up their seat and your seat.

If the airlines want to be compassionate about it, they can sell a double seat or a wide seat or whatever for the same price as a single seat. Though what that means realistically is we will all have our ticket prices increased to pay the difference; the airline is not going to sacrifice revenue for anything.

They should also offer non-baby flights because that's another imposition on people who don't have babies who scream for 5 hours straight.

It's time we go back to regulated airlines that compete for your business again on price and amenities. Then air travel will be comfortable for everyone.

Yeah, if the airline has to sell somebody two seats to make that person comfortable or safe, then the airline should get paid for two seats. They are under no obligation to give an extra seat to somebody just because they are overweight. What is also possibly factored into this, but probably isn't, is that the additional weight causes the airplane to use more fuel. The more fuel it uses, the more expensive it is for the airline to fly it. This may sound trivial to you, but I can tell you that weight is a huge deal with any airplane, big or small, in terms of fuel use and ultimately in terms of safety.
