Me and my friends wanted to have a Switzerland trip but the airbnbs are very expensive! Why is that? Is it like that everywhere in Europe?
Switzerland is one of the highest-priced (and thus most exclusive, and most desirable) places in Europe. It's essentially a place for wealthy people, and it caters primarily to wealthy people who don't care much what things cost. If you aren't wealthy, then it shouldn't surprise you that you find it very expensive. It's the same idea as wanting to rent a Ferrari for a week - you can do that, but you'd be shocked at how expensive it is to do. There's a reason most people don't own or drive them - they're insanely expensive, and the vast majority of people can't afford them.
That's the reality of the world: the nicest, most desirable places and things and experiences are all going to be the most expensive, because when supply is low and demand is high, the prices will be high.
Plus there is the whole COVID/Lockdown/Inflation problem - and it's worse in Europe than it is in the US (though it will catch up to us soon, because the current admin has made all the same mistakes).

They push up the cost as far as the market will take, it is up to the customer if they want to pay the exorbitant fees or find other accommodation. Airbnb is not the only company out there that have BNB accommodations, customers just have to look further than Airbnb and not just default to them.
There are a lot of factors.
The biggest currently being their bullshit extra surcharges for shit that doesn’t make sense
Cleaning fee
Surcharges
Different locations have different tax rates.
Location is also a factor.
City centres of beaches tend to sent you back a bit more than a little further out the city.
My sister and I used to play justification and based costs on factors such as how much of the Airbnb amenities we will actually use and the time we spend inside.
Well, Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries so prices will obviously be higher than other places. There are other countries in Europe especially the south of Europe that tend to be less expensive with more affordable prices but honestly nowadays with all this inflation crisis is kinda hard to find decent prices.

CAn you really name anything today that is not expensive? Why should AirBNB ne any different.
I've never used it, but from what I've seen of others using it, the price isn't too bad considering what you get for the money. Yea, it's probably a little more than a cheap hotel, but you get a lot more.
Have you compared it to other types of lodging with similar size and amenities?Because it's Switzerland. But I've never booked through AirBnB so I don't know how it compares to booking an apartment through a website like Expedia, but I will say that apartments in Europe are typically cheaper than Western style hotels. But like I said at the beginning, it's Switzerland. Switzerland is not for budget travelers.
Is there any particular reason you want to visit Switzerland?
Because all of these countries devalued the hell out of their currency on:
1. COVID lockdown hysteria.
2. Pouring billions into the CIA engineered war in Ukraine.
Your money is basically worth half what it used to be because of these two things. An old friend of mine had an Airbnb in Napa Valley, I can imagine that would be more expensive than Airbnb in Switzerland.
Switzerland or Norway are expensive countries. A pair of sneakers that costs in Germany or Poland 100$, costs in Norway 500$ in Switzerland 300$
Airbnb has become the opposite of what they intended. It’s cheaper to get hotels these days than borrow someone’s house, see if you can’t convince your friend into complimentary breakfasts and free room cleanings
Switzerland is the most expensive country in Europe. Even a pizza can cost three times of what I pay here.
Probably they want to be sure you are high enough class to afford it so you can be trusted not to trash their house.
Because they charge a certain price and people pay. Airbnb get a commission too. Tried to book an airbnb in London last year for a dirty weekend trip with my girlfriend, cost twice what primer inn cost so I said f it and booked the hotel.
Thats Switzerland, it’s Uber pricey, other areas in Europe are cheaper.
still it is less than hotel. but people eat lots n other expenses.
Well it is someone’s house and it like renting where people live. I would think in Europe it be more expensive because of scenery and the euro currency is higher than the dollar currency.
Because it's crap.
But check Booking or Expedia instead, more choice too.
AirBNB charges fees, Owners jack up how much the "cleaning fees" are. That's what can up the prices.
I'd rather their competitor Stayz lol 😂😆 for the whole house 🏠🏡
just do couch surfing. i slapt in places for free before.
Everything is expensive and going to get exponentially more expensive if we keep voting for Democrats
