Is white the new black?

I bet everyone is here expecting some racist question. Sorry to disappoint.

It has come to my attention that the majority of new vehicles produced are white. Twenty years ago most vehicles were gray. Ten years ago they were black.

When I bought my truck 6 years ago I visited 3 different Ford dealerships and all the trucks that they had that I was interested in were black and I noticed that there are a lot of black pickups trucks around.

Now I see that most of the vehicles are white.

What's up with this?

Black is fine for night time, especially if you don't want to be as visible or have your make and model made out at night.

On the other hand... if you live closer to the equator than others and not being able to touch your steering wheel is a problem when you get in... I highly suggest you consider a color that reflects light better. Tinted windows maybe too.

People are currently getting away from trying to look cool or stand out to just trying not to be noticed. Which means not be a target from 13% of the reasons you'd be a target 80% of the time. Sorry, I had to slip a racist fact in there... why? because it's fucking funny, that's why... and because it's true.

Anyways... if you look up the term "grey rock theory" or look up how the color of your car actually effects your car insurance rate... as well as what I pointed out about temp control (not to mention bird shit on white doesn't stand out as much), I think when you have the choice you'd understand that white is right. Those that know are white supremacists... even if you're black because they'll still call you racist if you have the wrong think or the right opinion.

I love my subtle form of trolling... excuse me... I have to go sniff my own farts now.

So cheap and efficient to manufacture..

It's nice to see different colored cars on the road and in parking lots.

I love black color. As black is a good conductor of heat, I would buy a white or silver-colored car despite the built-in air conditioning. White maybe cheaper than black. Yes I would chose a white car before a black car.

White paint is so much easier to touch up. It also doesn't show all the little scratches like it does on black paint. The body panels don't have to be perfect when you're painting them white. Black paint shows every single flaw

White has always been my go-to colour for vehicles. It's also known to be the safest. White also reflects light so it's easier to see, and cooler in the summer. It also doesn't stand out too much and doesn't make it look like you're trying to be the president or anything 😂

Black is just as bad as white for showing filth. Plus it gets significantly hotter in the summer and is therefore much more difficult to cool off and keep that way. I prefer lighter tones of darker colors. Grey and silver are about perfect, in my opinion.

Here in the South, many vehicles on the road are white, many more than black ones. Silver vehicles seem to still be the most common though.

well could be a trend, but if you can't sell because of the color... just take some good pictures of it now (while black). Then get it wrapped with some white vinyl and that should fix your issue :-)

Make sure to really get good photo's of the condition of the body and paintwork before wrapping, as well as some during. This is because many people wrap cars to hide defects... yet if its all good under the wrap then the price will go up as it matches the trend.

UK here. Both white and black are popular. I went with white because the sun reflects off it, while black absorbs the sun. It's an important consideration in today's climate.
