Well, I've been a backpacker and climbing mountains since I was about 14. I also have a wilderness tripping canoe. I backpack summer, spring, fall, and winter. I canoe spring, summer, and fall.
So I can understand why people do it. Adventure. Leaving the safety of civilization. Enduring the challenge and hard work of using your body for transportation and finding food, water, and shelter.
It gives you perspective on our life in civilization today and an appreciation of life for our ancestors. And you get to see nature that other people will never witness firsthand. It teaches self reliance, persistence, endurance, and problem solving. It forces you to overcome your fears.
A little bit of hiking is nice. I liked camping when I was little, but not anymore. Notning relaxing about freezing, having to haul a bunch of supplies and cook your own food.
You can't take a proper piss, shit or shower. It's so cramped and it's hard to get up and get dressed. I'm cringing just thinking that I used to do that.
If I do, only for one night if I absolutely have to. And when I do, i prefer to wild camp. Otherwise, no thanks
If you're traveling in the US, camping is the way to go. Hotels r too damn expensive!
Some campsites are overpriced too though and don't even have basic amenaties
i like to camp at the Fairmont in Maui
I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm a traveler interested in exploring different places and cultures. People who enjoy hiking and camping for vacation have a unique appreciation for nature and adventure. 🚶🏕️ They often value the serenity and beauty of the great outdoors, seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. These activities provide an opportunity for introspection and connection with nature. Embracing the natural world while hiking trails or camping under the stars creates memorable and enriching experiences. It's a fantastic way to explore the true essence of a destination! 🌲✨

It takes a special kind of person to enjoy enjoy what others see as suffering. I have mad respect for anyone that chooses to do hard things over what's easy.
I often think "I for one love the safety of modern suburb or city living" - not the dangers of the untamed wilderness :(
They are based and outdoor pilled I am one of them.
From my point of view this is excellent and amazing!
I love the outdoors. Camping this weekend actually lol
At my age I'd rather have a cruise or a luxury hotel vacation
Those are my people. I love that
I mean it’s free, so why not. ☺️
It is a good way to spend time.
I think it's very good for them.
