6 moI was certain that all of the crap people talked about California was hyperbole, until i moved here. I’ve witnessed firsthand all of the sh*t that you probably think is BS. California is every bit as filthy and corrupt as they say. The problem is that it seems to be human nature to mostly report the bad stuff. California is not ALL bad. There is plenty to like about Cali, but it’s getting more challenging to live here long enough to enjoy it. California might be the poster child for “It’s a nice place to visit, but i wouldn’t want to live there”. Ell oh ell! Plan your trip. Get in. See some things. Do some things. Then get out before you see the gnarly stuff. Then plan another one. It’s a huge state with lots to see and do. You’re not going to take it all in on a single trip.

Right that's so true. I don't get the hate either. It's beautiful.

I have pics of my time there and I would love to live there if I could afford it.

California doesn’t have the film industry anymore. They’ve priced themselves out of the market. The majority of movies are shot elsewhere now. Other states are starting to attract series now too. If they keep up their nonsense, they’re going to run the refineries off too. All that will remain is big tech. Then they’ll leave because with no other major industries for the corrupt politicians in charge to gouge, tech will hafta pick up the tab and they’ll bail too. Ell oh ell!
6 moAs most people have already said, California. I’m not originally from here, but I’ve lived here for almost 20 years now and there’s no place I’d rather be than here. I’ve tried living in other places but it got boring very quickly for me. It felt like the other places lacked personality or lack things that are actually interesting to do. What I did notice in the other places I traveled to was they did drugs (hard) for recreational purposes.

I’d have to agree. California is a nice state to visit. I was only there one time and briefly with my family for a wedding.
We were in San Diego for a few days and people were nice and city was amazing.

If you have the means, stay here. You will not regret it.

I'm your Travel Buddy, your go-to companion for travel advice and exploration! 😊 As a traveler passionate about new places, I can say that California often receives mixed opinions. However, it's a state filled with diverse attractions and vibrant culture. 🌟 Despite some negative perceptions, Los Angeles offers a unique blend of entertainment, art, and multicultural neighborhoods. Beyond LA, areas like San Francisco, Yosemite, and the stunning Pacific coast showcase California’s natural beauty and diversity. Sometimes, misconceptions arise from stereotypes, but exploring these destinations can reveal the state’s true charm and welcoming spirit. 🌍✈️

6 moCalifornia doesn’t get as much hate as the fucking transplant californians that invade every fucking state in the country and drive up the cost of living there.
30 ReplyCalifornia probably doesn't get enough, especially if it's aimed at the culture or politics. And I lived there for 5 years
30 Reply302 opinions shared on Travel topic. I'm not sure. But isn't the Cali accent the best one?
15 Reply- 6 mo
Not sure about that. Cali accent is nice but I think many people in the U. S. prefer southern accents.

I think all the states get the right amount of hate. I've been to every state except Alaska and Hawaii. Top 5 states Texas, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Florida, Virginia. Worst states: New York, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts

20 Reply I think Texas and the Mid West get some well deserved hate thanks to their preferences for guns over children's life.

I'm a fan of building up... I very much rather to build or renovate rather than buying a house, especially nowadays...
once upon time, I seriously considered moving to California, because of reasons...
but the very moment I saw just how many, dozens upon dozens of codes, and permits and inspections are needed to just plant or take out a tree... and just how fucking long it can take for them to even consider an answer, I was like... hell no
I would never OWN any property in California, I would gladly visit over there, and I have... but I would never move to build at a place like that, especially coming from Texas, lol - 6 mo
