What's a city that you disliked, thought the energy was off, or just didn't feel any spark in when you visited there?

ROME. Don't get me wrong, the city has some very interesting sites and some beautiful areas, but the PEOPLE who live there completely ruin it. Bunch of assholes, liars and thives. But even the people aside, it's so chaotic, exhausting, crowded and overpriced. I felt the prices weren't worth the quality. Though there are some affordable hidden gems, but as for the main attractions, no way am I waiting in line. And in Turkey and France, in the cities, you can walk around Roman ruins for FREE! People really need to stop over-romanticizing it. It was my most exhausting trip EVER, and I literally ended up going to Hawaii last minute, less then a month after returning, 'cuz I didn't relax there AT ALL. I personally wouldn't recommend Rome to anyone. If you do, just book a tour to see the main sites and get out. There are FAR better cities and towns in Italy.

Durham North Carolina was kinda just bland for it's reputation. What saved it was the gun ranges.

Nashville I have mixed feelings about because I had a good time there but by the second or third day there I just felt this looming dread like this whole city is basically 2 main roads and there's a maybe 4 hour window to find the bar that has a good crowd.

I can't hate on Nashville though because I saw this live band and the singer was this really cute girl and we stared at eachother for the last 30 minutes of their set 😂

She puts her guitar away, brings me to the back and we hooked up, texted eachother when we left the city and never spoke again it was kinda one of my favorite memories.

Salt Lake City, Utah. The whole place has an off putting vibe to me, and felt kinda like a twilight zone episode. It’s not just one thing you can point to, but a whole bunch of subtle things.
Runner up would be Bakersfield, Ca. In Kern County. Something is also ‘off’ in that place.

Honolulu... tons of homeless drug addicts, all around no fun place with horrible traffic (and I'm used to Phoenix), easily the worst island to be on in Hawaii. I used to love Lahaina, no idea what's left of it now. Kahului is great, Kona is great... just get me away from Oahu

I mean the subjectivity here totally skyrockets, in my opinion. I can totally see situations where I feel like energy is off whereas it's in fact my energy being off, and not the city.

That said, I remember feeling wrong in some towns, or villages, but not cities. But I'm a city guy, so there's that?

Oddly enough, I think it's been Santa Barbara. I just can't get clear about what the center of that city is, or what I'm supposed to do there, or how I'm supposed to be there. It's a beautiful city, but it just doesn't work for me somehow. I've been there a bunch of times. The very last time I was there, I accidentally crashed a plane I was flying at the airport.

Vienna. Granted it was mid-winter, but the place felt bland and soulless. Like somebody had clicked a big button reading: 'Insert generic Western European city here'. Boys choir was good though.
