Yes, I really enjoy boating—being on the water feels peaceful and exciting at the same time ⛵️. I’ve been on yachts a few times: once for a short coastal cruise, once for an island-hopping day trip, and once for a sunset party cruise. It’s not an everyday thing, but when I can combine sea views, good company, and a new port to explore, I’m in 😄🚤00 Reply

1.9K opinions shared on Travel topic. I grew up around boats but I really do not have any interest in them anymore.
20 Reply662 opinions shared on Travel topic. I enjoy boating tremendously. I have been sailing since I was five years old, and I have owned about five boats. My last boat was a 50-foot cruising sailboat that I had for about six years, but I needed to sell it mainly because I was not using it very often. It was, really, too big to be handled by one person alone.
I'm thinking about buying another boat now because I really like sailing. I've done lots of racing and lots of cruising. It's just nothing like it. It's a tremendous thrill. It can also be extremely relaxing.
10 ReplyYeah. Where i live it is a thing. I don't do it much. I work at a resort type place in the summer. I don't consider it a resort but the out of towners do.
That is all you see down here are covered boathouses. Most locals live away from our waterways.
10 Reply459 opinions shared on Travel topic. I enjoy river rafting, kayaking, canoeing, pontoon boats, and sailing or motor boating on lakes.
In the ocean, I am fine when a boat is moving rapidly forward. But when it stops to fish or whale watch, all that rocking and bobbing makes me sea sick. So I'm not crazy about boating in the ocean.
I have taken the ferry from Long Beach, CA, to Catalina a couple of times. No problem. I took the ferry from Wales to Ireland. But I have no interest in going on a yacht or a cruise.10 Reply
16 dBorn in the State of Florida to a man who built boats. Had four sailboats during my life. About to launch my fourth after replacing the keel. Love Sundown cruises, watch the moon rise, bucket of chicken and a bottle of wine.

@msc545 . My first was a fishing boat that my dad converted for me. Installed a centerboard well, rudder pentels, mast mount. Then the bootlegging began. Pop knew where there was a swamp that was filled with Cypress saplings. Mast Boom and Gap supplied. JC Penneys supplied a white sheet and a blue sheet to make a sail with. It was balanced wrong but it worked. Nose dived under heavy wind. Boat two. A plywood copy of a Cat boat. that was balanced right. 11ft in length with a laminated sitka spruce mast. Lot of sail. Easy to row. Vessel number three a Cal 25 willed to me by my Cousin. Sadly abandoned in Massachusetts, and the current vessel is a Clipper Marine 23mk. Not as classy as the Cal. Purchased after the owner lost the original keel. Patterned the keel pocket and cut a new keel from 1 inch steel plate. It is about 200lbs light but will work. Plan to add the other 200 lbs later.
Yes and yes. I had a few boats. You know what the best part of having a boat was? Selling it! It's like a money pit... but cool lol. I'm actually thinking of getting a pontoon now. Can have some nice parties on those and keeps the seasick people afloat lol ✌🏻
10 ReplyI've been captain of a 14 foot dinghy, that's similar to a yacht but a little smaller lol.
I thought it was good fun, but I wasn't too adventurous it was on a calm day, and on a large pond.

15 dYup and yup. it's even better when it's someone else's yacht and I don't have to worry about maintenance. As far as sailboats go I'm strictly a passenger or a "do as I'm told" crew member.

16 dI've never been on a yacht. I've dated a few guys who had boats, but I'd not consider any of them yachts. They were fun, but I was never a huge fan. Me and my husband have been talking about getting a camper though

15 dI have only been on a yacht once and it was pretty relaxing. I do enjoy crewing on sailboats and I prefer the excitement of controlling the boat.

16 dMy mom used to love cruises so I went on those and we'd rent a boat on Lake Tahoe frequently. I have no real use for a boat in Arizona, nor would I want one anyway.
10 ReplyI do, and I have. It's very fun! If you've never been or if you're not a strong swimmer, just wear your life vest.
20 ReplyFor sure i love boating. Most of my time on the water has been in small craft... like Canoes lol But one time i got to crew a large sailboat in the Keys... that was epic.

14 d11% of my DNA is Senagalese. The last time any of my family were on a boat they were being sold to Jews in Virginia in the colonial days.
12 Reply- 13 d
My family's first voyage was to escape catholic persecution in France. We were hunted. But the English Channel was not that wide. We have been sailors ever since.
- 12 d
Ironically the majority of my DNA is black Irish. We were thinking Spanish Armada also sunk in the English Channel washed a shore in Irland

- 13 d
@QuineJessica I can only watch others do it!! I'm naturally scared
- 13 d
Are you afraid of sharks? Or that the boat might sink?
- 13 d
@QuineJessica water 💦
- 13 d
This is so unusual, I know many people who are afraid of flying, but this is the first time I have encountered sailing on a boat.
Of course, this fear is completely normal, sorry I'm just curious 😅 - 13 d
@QuineJessica I'm the most introverted person you would see in such places
