This is basically how I feel after a two week vacation on my first day back at the office. How about you? How do you cope with post-vacation syndrome?

As for me I take 2 vacations, one of them is three weeks long & the other is two weeks & believe me I’m in the same boat & don’t want to go back either.
The same thing happens on Monday’s as well, I don’t want to go back after a long weekend.
We should just skip Mondays then.
I totally agree & every Monday should be a holiday, a paid holiday that is. Thanks to your post I filed my papers for a two week vacation.
I remember coming back to 2 weeks worth of bullshit I would have to wade through. It was no fun
Just catching up on emails now. I'm just going through them in order. I'll finish when I finish.
yesss i feel u!!😅😅 it usually takes me like an entire week to get back into work-mode properly!! i don’t know the exact answer, i think for me i just try and stay consistent once im back & slowlyyy my head gets back into it😮
I think it’s normal to take a day or two to get back into the work mindset. Especially when you spend such a time away. But it’s important to return to focus.
Yes, that would have been great. Just one extra day back home before rushing to the office.

Getting back to work after a great trip is *very* common and totally normal. I’ve had serious post-vacation blues too. A few things that help:
- Plan an easy first day: no heavy meetings if possible, ease into emails.
- Bring the trip home: set a new desktop background, snack or coffee from that country, playlist that reminds you of the place.
- Schedule a “mini-trip”: a weekend hike, a city day trip, or a new restaurant so you feel travel isn’t over, just changing shape.
- Sort photos in small batches in the evenings; reliving memories can feel good instead of depressing.
- Have a simple routine ready: good sleep, light exercise, and decent food to reset your body after travel.
You’re not broken—you just proved you can enjoy life more than work. That’s actually useful information for planning your next break 😊✈️

Maybe use the first day back at work to book another vacation. 😅👍
A good idea.
I remember those days when I had one of those "2 week vacation" jobs. It sucked, so I quit and started my own business in real estate. Now I don't have to do that. I hope you can escape one day too! If you lived in Europe or Scandinavia, most companies give a minimum of 4 weeks plus holidays, which amounts to another week, plus personal paid days. You'd also get paid maternity leave and free health care. :)
im sure ill feel that when i get back from mine next month lol
Well, you're closer to yours than I am to the next one.
Its difficult to go back to work after you have had the good life without thinking about work at all.
The first week back at work kinda sucks but you it will become back to normal after that.
How are you coping?
The first day was hectic. Now I'm good.
I don't work to a fixed schedule, so I won't really feel the difference, but if I went on vacation somewhere, I wouldn't want to come back, haha.
It normally takes me at least a day or two, to get back into some semblance of routine.
Prior to a vacation I can't wait to leave. By the end of a vacation, I'm ready to go home. I've traveled my entire life from the time I was born. I'm sorta over the travel thing.
I enjoy my annual leave, but I also actually enjoy going back to work after 2 to 3 weeks.
Its fucking horrendeous. Even the thought of going back to work is shocking. That though ruins at least the last 3 days of my holiday in the lead up to going back.
I don't let it ruin my holiday. The moment of realization comes when I get off the plane back home and everything goes back to normal.
Its a depressing feeling. I guess it depends on how much you hate your job. Personally 9-5 isn't really for me the monotonous routine is soul crishing to me. On holiday it feels like you are free and then you get back and its like the chains are back on and your in te cotton field again 😅
If I go for month i’ll get back on Wednesday but vacation take to Friday. Though on Vacation I do some work.
That's what I'll do next time. Take a couple of days extra, so the change feels smoother.
funny... because I can just go back to work, right away... I do like to catch up with things, lol
Yeah it's disruptive cause I've had like a week off work once every 3 weeks for the past 5 months :)
Yeah- it really is a bummer. My garden took-off- all of a sudden. And, it always does it when we go on vacation. Finally getting it fixed after ten days back!
I never found going back to work hard. By the time I was back at my desk, it was like I'd never left.
Easy
I don't stop working on vacation and only take one day off a year (well two concurrent half days)
Needing a vacation from the vacation is real haha. I get over it by hating the first Monday back to work haha
Very hard! Especially right after spending days in the sun on the beach!
Nat... for me it was always difficult to get back to college work after spring break.
I am sorry but what is this vacation that you speak of?
The destination is irrelevant. I'm talking about the first day back at work.
I hate it but I also love my job, so it's really not that bad
Yeah need a vacation from a vacation.
I work at the mall so it's different.
It's always super hard,
Year after year 😋
That's why I stay away from vacation
Luckily for me I no longer need to work
