I've been 3 times to 4 different islands, and frankly, I prefer the Caribbean. The Caribbean has much nicer beaches and swimming conditions and snorkeling. Also, in the Caribbean, once you get away from the resorts it's easy to find authentic local culture. On Hawaii however, there seems to be no authentic Polynesian culture left. There's more non-indigenous Hawaiians than indigenous Hawaiians. Any cultural experiences are nothing more than mock authenticity. The areas where traditional Hawaiians still live are unwelcoming to tourists. They have a few landscapes unique to Hawaii, but for the most part, the geography isn't much different from the mainland. And the most beautiful areas are often hard to reach or experience bad weather. The food is lousy, except for the pork sandwiches. The cities are ugly. And except a few islands, it's very modern, commercialized, developed and often doesn't have that island vibe. Lastly, I think overall things are far more expensive than in the Caribbean. In the Caribbean, you can pay less for far better quality and service.
With the Caribbean, I have islands that I remenisce about. That left an impact on me, and stuck with me. While with Hawaii, I don't have any island really made an impression on me, or I would call my "favorite."
You can ask me what my favorite thing was on any of the Caribbean islands I've been to, and I can tell you. With Hawaii, my guide asked me what my favorite thing was, and I legit had no answer. I couldn't even tell you which island was my favorite. Like they all had an equal balance of good and bad. I wouldn't rate one higher than the other. Whereass with the Caribbean, I can easily tell you.
I haven't been to the South Pacific yet, but the South Pacific seems better.
I know I probably pissed some people off, but that's how I feel.
