Yes, I know that Finland is not considered part of Scandinavia by many people, but it's in the same general area, on the Scandinavian peninsula, so it's included here.

Each city is the capital of its country, modern, rich in history. The native languages are all different, though similar (except for Finland). English is also spoken by many residents.

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal. Barcelona is not the capital of Spain (that's Madrid) but it is the largest and most important city in Catalonia, a unique region of Spain. Each city is a modern city, rich in history. The native language in Lisbon is Portuguese, and Catalan in Barcelona, both Romance languages with their roots in ancient Latin. English is also spoken by some residents in each city, especially younger ones and in tourist areas.

I just found out about this place and it was so random. I was watching videos of Barack Obama admitting he was born in Kenya, and in one of the videos he said he was the first sitting US president to come to Kenya. So I Googled it to see if it's in fact true, and I found a Wikipedia list of "US Presidential visits to Sub-Saharan Africa." On some of the presidents it said they visited Gorée Island in Senegal. I was like, "What is this Gorée Island? So I did some more Googling and found THIS...

I digged a little deeper and found that the island is just 45 acres and home to just 1600 people, but is rich in history. During the colonial days, slaves were allegedly held here while they awaited shipment to the New World. Cars and crime are probited on the island.

Beijing is the capital of China. Hong Kong is a former British colony (before 1997) and is now a semi-independent Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. Each is a modern city, rich in history. The native language in Beijing is Mandarin Chinese, few speak English. The native language in Hong Kong is Cantonese Chinese, though Mandarin is also recognized; many locals also speak English.
