It is already easy to make guns right now and it's not a problem. I don't see why it would be a problem then. Murders are already against the law. People won't start murdering each other any more then they already do now. As much as I agree that there is too many guns on the loose right now, I don't see how having more would change anything. Anybody that wants a gun now can easily get one.

yeah it's scary the potential. it means criminals, terrorists and other less than than desireables can get their hands on guns
and even for people who maybe should own a gun there is still a huge issue of faulty mechanics and construction which could lead to severe injury and death
i imagine, like pseudo ephedrine and other things people could buy the government will eventually legislate against this making it more difficult to get the pieces to fully construct a weapon
I'm sure my 1911 machined from billets of steel isn't going to worry about some disposable gun. Even if you can 3d print metals I'm sure you can't rifle the barrel and harden the parts that need to be hardened. I'm not a bit concerned about them.
That 1911 up top was 3d printed, its accurate, fired 5000 rounds, and is fully metal. But the first illegal guns that will show up used in crimes are probably stens and colt woodsmans
The rifle and the pistol are still the equalizer when one man is more of a man than another, and if…he is really smart…he will get a permit to carry one and then drop around to Abercrombie and Fitch and buy himself a.22 caliber Colt automatic pistol, Woodsman model, with a five-inch barrel and a box of shells. I advise him to get lubricated hollow points to avoid jams and to ensure a nice expansion on the bullet. He might even get several boxes and practice a little...
Now standing in one corner of a boxing ring with a.22 caliber Colt automatic pistol, shooting a bullet weighing only 40 grains and with a striking energy of 51 foot pounds at 25 feet from the muzzle, I will guarantee to kill either [boxer] Gene [Tunney] or Joe Louis before they get to me from the opposite corner. This is the smallest caliber pistol cartridge made; but it is also one of the most accurate and easy to hit with, since the pistol has no recoil. I have killed many horses with it,
Right now the materials that are used to build these guns are incredibly expensive and it would be much cheaper to simply buy on the black market without a serial number.
Not to this extent, there is a difference between arming yourselves with a few cheap Saturday night specials, a shotgun, and maybe a mac-10 and having a whole gang armed with suppressed Stens
America in general is dangerous country and it's due to the laws which allows every single citizen to get a gun, you might spit this BS about self protection but I don't buy it anyway.
@SpinningDude69 I prefer a more dangerous but free society rather then a safe, not free one.
I was talking about the general population, most don't care whether you or I buy it or not. And i comment out of courtesy and because it would be rude to simply ignore you because I don't agree with you.

I think the bullets are more likely to be the hard part to manufacture, at least reliable ones. In the mean time, there's a fair chance that sensor technology will improve to be able to detect guns and explosives in public places, probably unobtrusively.

Honestly, my country isn't even as gang ridden as America, but even here, if you're an "undesirable" and know the right people, guaranteed you can get a gun within half hour to an hour. It's too easy. And cheap, really cheap sometimes, probably cheaper than buying shit to make one.

I think as the price lowers, this could be a worry-it's sad to say, but this will probably happen (an incident with a 3D printed gun) in the next 10 years.
Well, one more reason to actually have a legal gun yourself to be able to defend yourself against those who get a gun by illegal (or at least questionable) means.
Still not scared, tbh. If I had a metal 3d printer, I would make a gun. Some car models. Prototypes. But it's too expensive, so I would never be able to. I could make a living off of selling 3d printed whistles though. I want one of those 3d printing pens. Those are awesome
The whole system for gun ownership, sales, and interest in guns within the US is a scary worrisome problem. Glad I live in a country with more laws and restrictions.
Doesn't really scare me. I can't see a gun designed to made from metal but built of plastic function. Plastic guns do exist, but they still require metal components. Any idiot can make a gun out of a pipe and a nail already anyway.

Basically makes the black market easier to obtain. My sisters boyfriend built his own AR-15
A LOT easier,
As in, forget about trying to keep criminals from having submachine guns

Right now, but if you notice most of this take is talking about 15-20 years from now
I'm not really concerned. Nearly all mass shootings are from weapons registered in the national database.
It'll still be cheaper to rely on weapons bought than made.
Its not conventional mass shootings that worry me, its the effect this will have on gangs and other parts of organized crime.
Gangs already have guns lol.
Not to this extent, there is a difference between arming yourselves with a few cheap Saturday night specials, a shotgun, and maybe a mac-10 and having a whole gang armed with suppressed Stens
lol ok bud
Honestly it doesn't scare me because the people around me are ex military usually and not pyscho's
Now if I lived in New York, Chicago or California then I'd be scared to many gun free zones around.
America in general is dangerous country and it's due to the laws which allows every single citizen to get a gun, you might spit this BS about self protection but I don't buy it anyway.
@SpinningDude69 America wasn't designed to be safe it was designed to be free and I fully accept that trade off and the dangers that come with it.
You can either live free or you can live safely but you can't have it both ways.
And nobody cares whether you buy it or not.

I agree on this as it sounds reasonable. Out of curiosity, which one do you prefer then?
And nobody cares whether you buy it or not.
I beg to differ, if you wouldn't care what I think, you would completely ignore it and not answer it.

I never heard about 3D printed guns.. But it scares me.
Within a few years, anyone will have access to this guns. And we probably will have more wars.

this is the first time I am reading about this.. :/ it seems to be more harmful than good..
It just is
There's no evidence to support this claim. Particularly given that people have been making their own guns for sometime.
@Lawdog well yeah that's true...
I like the idea of 3D printing. It looks cool but I wouldn't go as far as printing 3D guns and weapons.
Well, one more reason to actually have a legal gun yourself to be able to defend yourself against those who get a gun by illegal (or at least questionable) means.

Oh goodness... my killer may be printing his weapon as we speak and I'm not even aware :-(
Help Waffles, HEEEEEEEEEEELP!
if somebody shoots me in the face, i don´t really give a shit if it´s a propper weapon or a printed one xD
The whole system for gun ownership, sales, and interest in guns within the US is a scary worrisome problem. Glad I live in a country with more laws and restrictions.
It's counties with tighter laws that will be more affected
I support people having guns, I just wish more people were responsible with them.
