Ask any person why American people have guns...They will answer "To defend themselves"...This is to some degree in accordance with what I will discuss today, but what I want to talk about is against whom, against what precisely.

Structural

The U.S governmental is a federalist system that is built and maintained on a structure of checks and balances. Each branch of government having power that keeps other branches in check and prevents them from being able to overreach. Hereby the government on the grand scheme of things, protects our rights within the country and around the globe. But who keeps checks on the government itself. The founding fathers thought about that, and created our dear 2nd Amendment. Truth is...It is us, we dissuade the government from overreach, we prevent the government from the possibility of it turning on us and trying to take away our rights. HOW do we do this...Because we bear arms.

Dissuasion

One day I heard of a man laughing at a bar. he said words that stuck with me:

"Anyone knows, that no one will ever dare to come and invade America, because they know too well, they would find a pointed gun behind every single door!" To further push on this point I want you to get a historical context. In Switzerland, it was at least at the time customary law for each household to own a gun, it was REQUIRED. Consequently two things ensued. Switzerland is the only country that managed to remain neutral through 2 World Wars without retaliations from either parties, In WW2 Switzerland was never invaded by Nazy Germany, Hitler did not ever set one foot on that soil even thought he occupied three forth of Europe completely. Why is that? Well during Nazy occupation one PRIORITY was to immediately disarm all civilians promptly, thankfully for them most of Europe did not own many weapons on civilian premises, just like it still doesn't today. What happened after you may ask...the independent governments of invaded countries were forced to start "Giving up" their civilians over because they were considered undesirable to the Third Reich (Jews), the rest is particularly catastrophic history.

Over Hasty Assumptions

Anyone who understands where I am going and that disagrees with the second amendment will have a refutation. They will say, well you're crazy...That was before right?...This sounds ridiculous...Our Government will never turn on us... This is fair, for it is things we cannot place in our heads in this day and age.

BUT we most never forget, that the people at the time thought exactly the same way! The ideal of Democracy NEVER turning usurpacious, hostile, or tyrannical, is JUST that...It's an ideal, a best case scenario. I don't feel confortable leaving that to chance.

People who may have been armed at the time would have fought to the last man, for they had nothing to lose. The reason why they didn't have access to these rights, is also the reasons why they are now ashes in Europe.

Conclusion

History does repeat itself, governments have turned hostile in the past, they may try to take rights, can they...Maybe...I believe it is possible that government tyranny could rise in any country over time. But to be honest it isn't even about what will or won't happen, it is the fact that it COULD happen that justifies our rights to bear arms and defend ourselves if need be, to dissuade the government who knows that they would face civilian opposition and retaliation in case of a revolt. That they cannot trump any individual's right's in apprehension of that retaliation, (for instance trying to take away my guns, is one example of that usurpation of my rights.).... Is that a pretty picture, no...But it is why the founding fathers gave us this unique perpetual right, let us all honor that distinction. Let us keep what we have, and dissuade anyone from taking these rights away from us.
