No, I don't believe that there are universal standards and I also believe that I myself am the perfect example for this. Since I was a teenager, I have always had a very unique taste in women, quite different from the mainstream male taste or the taste of my male buddies. For example I don't find this woman particularly attractive. And among the women who "contributed" to her face, I only find Reese Witherspoon very cute, I don't care about any of the others. I've also noticed that my taste in women is different from other guys when I'm here on GaG. When guys are asked what kind of female celebrity they find particularly hot or attractive, they always mention the same set of people... Selena Gomez, Megan Fox, Eva Mendes... it's always the same kind of women that are named. I on the other hand find Ellen Page the most beautiful English-speaking female celebrity and I'm always the only one to name her. So clearly, beauty must be in the eyes of the individual beholder.
Perfect for what exactly? What goal is there to accomplish, and who are the judges who decide how much of the goal was accomplished?
To me all canons seem rather arbitrary except those revolving around health and function.
That picture does not strike me as the most beautiful woman according to my personal preference, far from it.
Even features like a very symmetrical face are a rather arbitrary standard, since some of the prettiest girls I consider personally might have some blatant asymmetrical features (beauty mark on one side, e. g.).
Since my preferences don't always align with critics and judges, that alone should be sufficient to show that there's no universal standard of beauty.
Who are these female participants? And seriously, only a thousand? And where do these women come from? The same place? All he's doing is proving his own bias by picking women from the same location with similar life experiences and therefore similar ideas as to what is considered beautiful. This doesn't prove anything at all. His study group is so small and his results are predictable. It's just a representation of what is beautiful from his tiny tiny study group. Which is definitely not accurate to apply to all version and perspectives of beauty from all around the world.
Yeah, there's features that the majority of people can agree are attractive. And there's things pretty much everyone likes subconsciously, like symmetry. But an entire face? Nah.
The face they came up with is pretty, but honestly, nothing that would get me to look twice. I find unique features so much more appealing. Like people that have crinkles around their eyes, or one dimple, even some little flaws, it's really intriguing to me. You can be textbook pretty, but that's not my thing, and I don't think I'm alone in that.
I find the face they came up with kinda boring. I guess that's why I never get the people who go crazy over celebrities. Plain yet "perfect" features just don't get to me. On girls I like more defined cheekbones, bigger eyes, a nose with more character.
No. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder because anyone can easily say that they don't find the girl you showed attractive. Like me for example, I don't think she has a "perfect face". But, there are plenty of people that I don't find attractive that others do and vice versa.

Maybe. If you ask me "the perfect face" is a face with features that's in harmony with each other. Proportions, that's what matters , the "golden ratio" if you want to be technical. On the topic of "the perfect face" , have you ever heard of that study where some researcher averaged out the faces from different countries to see what the face of the nation looks like? I feel like there are faces, like the one you've posted, that are sort of universally beautiful - so a lot of people will think she's beautiful, but at least one person will always whole heartedly disagree. Why do you think there are so many different types of models if all humans just wanted to see the same one face?

Quite comparing yourself to fucking celebrities. Camera lighting, makeup, airbrushes and now photoshop give them that artificial appearance. They are far from perfect... they are just exceptionally talented in one area of their life (acting, music, sports, etc). In many ways they are dumber/uglier than you in other parts of their life.
Also people who care about celebrity political endorsements are exceptionally stupid.
It is possible to create a beautiful face from an amalgam of faces, but this is not the way to do it. If you take a large number of women's faces and you superpose them all one on top of another, the average is always a beautiful face. There's probably some intriguing psychology behind that finding but I don't know what it is.

They say symmetry is what humans are attracted to but humans are so diverse that someone is going to think the opposite of symmetrical is perfect.
Well as far as that franken-face I suppose no one will think it's ugly unless they are mentally defective. But as an example I prefer blue or green eyes, so there is no such thing as universal perfection, only universal ugliness (what most everyone would consider unattractive). As long as the face isn't fat and has symmetry along with a narrow range of measurements between prominent features then it's generally attractive, but not perfect. What constitutes perfection is basically an opinion.
@reixun You may think so but it goes beyond what you realize your thinking, it's subconscious, also faces that adhere to the golden ratio are found to be universally liked and found attractive because the faces are symmetrical and there are no odd flaws which according to nature which the golden/divine ratio stems from means they are perfect or as perfect as is possible through nature.
It also adheres to a caucasian facial structure which is silly. I seriously don't find the images that pop up when you google "golden ratio face" attractive. You can't break down allure to a science. It's impossible.

It's more mathematic algorithm than anything else. Now, how it's applied and the percentage among which group fits it is a different story... For the record, the ratio is about 1.618 If I'm not mistaken. I'm not a math nerd

@reixun lol the true golden/divine ratio has been around for thousands of years, the greatest painters and sculptures of the greatest caliber used them to create masterpieces and used the measurements given by the gold ratio to create the statues and sculptures of gods and goddesses.

I don't buy these quasi-"scientific" formulas for beauty. I think it's all subjective. There's no one formula for a girl to be beautiful, and that's a great thing! There are an infinite amount of ways for a girl to be beautiful.
Yes, I do. I think talking about the face is a picky subject for many though. But that example isn't of a perfect face. I think more on the line of big eyes small nose full lips and oval or diamond shae face.
No, I don't think so. What might be beautiful in your eyes, might be ugly in the eyes of someone else and vice versa. But since this was made by a cosmetic surgeon, I get where his ideas come from. So, I'm not surprised.
certainly not, i apologize, but i speak for the majority of us here. In beauty is no limit at all , we all have different taste, the same goes for the whole body, from head to toes we all think differently about beauty and often changing our opinion, for every part of the body, just as a woman changing shoes, believe me, everything else is a misconception. Again i apologize but I believe that this is so.
In my opinion, if you have to construct the face, it's not perfect. It's plastic. If you talk about a beautiful woman by birth, no it can't. Again, just my opinion.
nah even if you like individual features of individual women, it wouldn't work all on one face because it needs to be proportionally consistent. i can sculpt the face of a woman i'd want to bang in 3D though.
I wouldn't have chosen those Buzzfeed chicks for "perfect face", but yes a perfect face can be defined. Although a brunette seems awfully boring. Why not a redhead or blonde?
Not perfect as in actual quantifiable female features, but I believe many women can have the "perfect" face, as in she's cute, has her flaws, but still has that smile that melts your heart.
