The US's biggest threat is, and has been for decades, its own government.

It's too big to be effective, it's too corrupt to be benevolent, it's too sold out to be worth anything, too stubborn to learn from its own mistakes, too proud to correct them anyway, and all these problems together have made it so bloated that it can't even see it's own feet when it looks down.

Going to agree that the bloated, overgrown unconstitutional size and scope of government is the primary cause behind the problems. The founders knew that the only good government was minimal government.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

My personal view is that government should maintain an army to deal with foreign threats and defend the borders, maintain a police force to deal with crime and maintain a court system to prosecute crime. And nothing more.

Nothing else is any of the government's business.
