A BLM supporter mowed down over fifty people walking and dancing in a Christmas Parade. Video of the event shows that it was purposeful and with the intent to harm.

Children hit have died. Dancing grandmas were instantly killed. It was a mass murder by a convict repeatedly let out of jail and given low bonds. He had used a vehicle to hit someone before.

The perpetrator has been charged with, as of this hour, six murders.

The story is already out of the national news. The attack was on November 21st. The story is a week old. Gone.

Lots of stories that matter are out of the headlines *because they're inconvenient to the Leftist narrative*.

Want an example? The Afghanistan evacuation that revealed the lie of the Biden administration: there are still Americans in Afghanistan awaiting evacuation. There are still U. S. allies fearing for their lives. It's not a misplaced fear. Lots of people have been murdered by the psychotic regime in Afghanistan.

How about the terrorist/murderer in Colorado? What? Don't remember the "mentally ill" Muslim man who mowed down ten people at a Jewish grocery store? Well, he was indicted for ten murders in September. September, 2021. You'll be forgiven if you didn't recall that it happened. It was in the news for two, yes two, days.

Please remember that the news you read is often what some editor wants you to read. It is news, would be front-page news, but news that doesn't either help the Democrats or support the Leftist narrative so it goes away immediately. If those two factors are involved, the story will disappear, never to be seen again.

This phenomenon happens over and over and because of our technology, we're easily distracted by the latest thing. For example:

Nothing else matters but the latest COVID variant. This story is meant to distract you. You're supposed to forget the inflation that is killing your budget at the gas station and grocery store. You're supposed to forget the leftist goons running amok in America. You're supposed to forget the Americans in Afghanistan. You're supposed to ignore all sorts of inconvenient stories.

My high school basketball coach always said to "watch the numbers", meaning to not be thrown by a head fake or ball fake or false first step. Watch the numbers. They don't lie.

So, my advice during this time of misinformation, or more likely, missing information, is this: Watch the numbers. Think of what you're not reading, seeing. Remember the stories the media wants you to forget.

So far it seems it's more contagious but less deadly. That is good since only two main ways may lead to the end of this crisis:

a) everyone gets the virus and new variants will remain bad at dodging natural immunity
b) new variants will dodge any immunity but will also become far less deadly in the process

Omicron is good news for both those scenarios. Its another step on the way to mild disease, plus it spreads more easily. Now that we have vaccines, pills and other effective treatment options, surplus of protective equipment and solid data, it is better time than any for most people to catch it.

I'm scared of covid as well as people acting carelessly. People don't wear mask if they have got vaccinated and don't get vaccinated if for mask. They don't have the common sense of doing both for more safety. Like these kind of people are more scary than the new variant of coronavirus cuz they only spread it. I'm scared. Very scared of this covid and have no intentions of messing with it. I will go for vaccines as well as mask.

I am not vaccinated. It's not a requirement for me to be vaccinated for me to work. I've been exposed in the workplace and am 1 of only 2 people in the office who haven't gotten sick. I remember White House reps saying that I was GUARANTEED to get the Delta variant, and we're now, what, 2 variants past that?

Most people vaccinated are still getting sick and spreading it, but the pitch was "get vaccinated so you don't spread it to vulnerable old people". I'm not a doctor, but I don't recall any vaccine in history having a disclaimer that it's only somewhat effective at lessening the symptoms just a little bit.

The longer this plays out, the more I'm beginning to see the vax mandate as a power grab and a means of coercion by the left. It's looking like a trial run for them to prove they can force you to do whatever they want, so long as they compel the media to lie for them.
"Quid Pro Quo Clarice. Get the vaccine, and we'll allow you to go outside and get a job."

No idea, too soon. Although there are preliminary results that say people get less sick, and don't loose their smell. It's mostly younger people though. But usually, the more a virus mutates, the less dangerous it is, even if it evades the vaccine (it does so just because it is increasingly different from the original one). Delta was weird, because it was both more contagious and more dangerous. But from an evolutionary standpoint, that's not good, you don't want to kill your hosts. So let's see. If future variants become less dangerous, then that can only be a good thing.

No. I don't think living in fear is the answer. I'm thankful that when I caught covid it wasn't more severe than it was. I felt icky and had a fever for about 9 days but overall I didn't struggle with it too much. Unfortunately I know some people aren't so lucky but putting your life on hold and living in constant fear doesn't seem like much of a life to me anyways.

I'm concerned, but hopeful. Any new variant is concerning, because, the more variants, the more possibilities for mutations that can evade vaccines and treatments. But I'm hopeful because more and more people are getting vaccinated and there are more treatments readily available (or soon will be). And yeah, maybe it's not that deadly. But still, use caution and get vaccinated and boosted for God's sake!

Until 12 year olds start dropping in the streets and/or the vaccine is ineffective i don’t care at all.
Once you are vaccinated for covid and/or you are young/healthy or already have natural immunity than this is no different than the influenza (common flu). The flu virus mutates all the time but you don’t see people locking down and having masking fetishes over it. I am so sick of this fear mongering bullshit.

We are coming out the pandemic. Yes it was horrible. Yes there will still be breakthrough infections. Yes some older and/or vulnerable people foolishly don’t vaccinate (and risk dying for it). I was an essential worker during the self isolation. I was in contact with hundreds of people every day. I did not get Covid. I wore a cloth mask like most wore, a mask that the CDC says was least effective and practiced safe distance as best I could.

I’m not concerned about the variant itself, it appears to be a positive evolution towards a more contagious but less dangerous form of the virus like was expected/hoped from the beginning. I am worried about how federal and state/provincial governments will respond to it though as they tend to be pretty heavy handed when really this isn’t much different than what we have been dealing with already.

No. The South Africans have already said that this variant is very mild. That’s because what tends to happen with viruses is that they’re most deadly at the beginning, and then over time they mutate to become more infectious but less deadly.

It will become just like the flu or the common cold, and for a lot of people it always has been anyway.

Not really. Just like any virus of it's kind, this one will have a lot of variants and is unlikely to ever go away.
Yet we've lived with seasonal flu and people barely ever noticed it existed. Sure, corona is a bit more shitty than flu, but not that much. The mortality rate is about 10 times higher, which sucks, but isn't an extinct threat.
Still more likely to die in a car crash and so on.
It's reasonable to take basic precautions, but not living in fear.

We don't know enough about it yet. Apparently the Moderna vaccine is less effective on the omicron variant, so that's one thing we know. And some data suggests that it is more contagious but the symptoms caused by it might be milder.
