I saw an interview with one of Kyle Rittenhouse's attorneys. He is a litigation attorney and was not on the defense team. He was waiting for the trial verdict and looking forward to suing the shit out of those who defamed Kyle. He mentioned Facebook in particular. But I'm sure they will be going after new outlets in the same way that Sandman's team did. They may even sue Biden to make slanderous comments as an average citizen during his campaign. All of it will take years, but I'm sure Rittenhouse will become a multi-millionaire.

Frankly, the Covington story was a dumb hill to die on for the media. It wouldn't have hurt them at all to publicly retract their story, correct it and move on to more important things, but instead they doubled down and it cost them. They did the same thing to an even greater extreme in the Rittenhouse trial, so I would think it an injustice if the settlement isn't at least as high as whatever Sandman got.

It would be one thing if they had just gotten bad information and made a mistake, but that wasn't the case, and there's a pretty clear pattern in their conduct at this point.

sadly kyle won't be able to because he was charged with a crime. so any facts brought up (true or not) in his trial can't be sued for defamation.
