I’m glad to hear, at the very least, that they did not suffer excessively. I’ve been thinking about how suffocating to death would be a horrible way to go these past few days, and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I don’t really care about the stepson. People do weird things in a crisis to try and distract themselves. I’m saying this from experience. I think he deserves the inheritance as much as anyone else.

Why wouldn't he, exactly? Do you think he'd be trying to swim down there himself? People do strange things to distract themselves when loved ones are in danger and there's nothing they can do to help.
