It seems like the right is trying to make it look like the left is worried Elon will buy Twitter, so that he does. I wrote a haiku about it:
Elon Musk was groomed
By right wing troll farms faking
Camaraderie
Elon lived in California, was doing his level best to do something about the climate crisis (or at least appearing to), even seemed to give a crap about world hunger, and was the richest man alive on top of it all (we dont mind wealth we mind exploitation to get it). If you plugged this information into a robot it would give you a 99.9% chance that Elon was the de facto leader of the left (only hiccup is his anti union problems, which is a bit exploitive).
And yet for some reason it doesn't even really appear he is liked by the left. This is where the right wing troll farms pretending to be left wing come in. Fake liberal accounts pretending to pick on Elon and less-fake right wing accounts pretending he's their buddy. It would be worth any price to the right to fund a whole industry dedicated to keeping Elon from throwing his substantial weight behind getting democrats elected, after all.
So that has been going on for a while. Then the right got worried their Nigeriean Prince of Mar-a-lago was rightly redirected to spam and identified the threat that simply shutting down accounts that spread misinformation poses to their pursuit of power, since republicans rely absolutely on misinformation to win elections (when is the last time you heard that a Republican actually did anything given as a reason to vote for them?). Elon, being immersed in the fake camaraderie of the right, has maybe fallen for this. There's also a chance he hasn't and he wants to own Twitter so he can see if these friendly accounts are legit. I've never met him so I don't know. He strikes me as naive enough to believe it but also as intelligent enough to not fall for it. Again, I don't know but those are my thoughts.
Question would be, why isn’t he liked by the left?
Does it have something to do with him possibly being a free speech absolutist and against censorship?
I don’t believe that is necessarily true.
What I think? It’s the MODERN left that doesn’t like him.
Why? Because the modern left is not the left of the past.
The left of past hates the modern left.
Pretty much, everyone hates the modern left.
Bill Maher argues that the left today is a changed beast compared to the left of yesterday.
To the point, that Bill Maher is called a Republican or right-winger.
Well, yeah, it’s strictly/mainly online.
I don’t think right-wing troll farms are the cause of this though.
There’s some wacky people out there.
These are, unfortunately, actual people.
The sad truth as well?
The more “moderate” left does little to disavow these more extreme types
To the point that the left is more vague now with what it believes.
Which is why the left will lose in November.
How do you know which percentage of the nutso left wingers you see online are who they say they are in real life? I'm curious if it's any reason other than because it is satisfying to believe the percentage is high.
And Yeah it is sad about the midterms. Republicans are openly sabotaging the economy but because the media keeps treating them like their sabotage is a legitimate opinion, the loyal frothing right will show up to vote and reward them for their destruction with the power to destroy more. Behold the power of far right misinformation..
So, I just think the left is becoming more and more against common sense
Whereas the right is not only becoming more common sense, but more tolerant as well.
If you want to have a reasonable convo and long, then you would have to be on a right-wing show
People don’t like their speech being muted
People don’t like not being able to say what they want
People want to be against the status quo and not be chastised for it.
This is why the right is gaining more followers
Well, center right that is.
People are moving away more from NYC, Cali, etc.
Also, from mainstream news
The right admits when it’s wrong
The left? It’s actually more stubborn.
The pay gap doesn’t exist, yet try convincing a leftist to change his/her mind.
Racism is not the boogeyman.
Try getting a leftist to change his/her mind
Etc.
You get me
Yes, that's what the far right fake news wants you you think and why they have troll farms dedicated to pretending to be left wingers with no common sense.
And you don't mind speech being muted. If you dont read every email in your spam box you know exactly why it's a good thing to have some speech muted. It isn't Twitter fault that the entire Republican party has come to rely on spam to win elections. Free speech is not being put in jail for what you say. It doesn't guarantee scammers the right to an audience. But the scammers want the government to force people to listen to them. So the scammers have people like you believing free speech is listening to scammers.
@normalice “In real life you don’t see people like that.”
The fuck you don’t. I watched as Leftists rioted through cities, assaulting people, setting fires, attacking police officers, besieging police precincts, looting.
These are all just things the Right makes up. Just like those property damage figures. It’s all just made up by the Right.
This is why I can’t vote Democrat anymore. The fucking party is completely willfully ignorant of the problems and violence it perpetuates. In fact any criticism is all called a “Right wing” conspiracy. Motherfucker do you know how many Democrats I’ve known, life long, who can’t bring themselves to vote for them anymore?
So, those riots were fake?
I mean, it seemed like all sides, right and left, decried those rioters.
I didn't say they were fake. I'm saying the disinformation that they were leftists was fake. Or if you were misled into believing they were commonplace, that's also fake. Whatever the case may be you saw it through the lens of what right wing scammers wanted you to see. He wasn't there. He didn't go in Real Life to any BLM protests or whatever. He watched it on YouTube or TV with a right wing scammer telling him what to think about it the whole time.
I mean, many of them were leftists.
Many of them were people rioting because they liked it and wanted to take advantage of the situation.
Many, also, were both.
Oh, were they? You met them, did you? Talked with them? You asked them their political views?
Or did you just believe whatever the far right fake news tried barely hard to get you to believe.
"90% of conservativism is just making up a scenario in your head and then getting mad at it."
"Any time left winger do bad is when its ackshually a right wing troll pretending to be left"
Not a quote, just your logic summarised in a simple sentence.
No it wasn't. It was completely unrelated to anything I said, in fact. But no doubt it is the straw man you were brainwashed to believe you were seeing everywhere because the scammers you simp for can't tolerate the risk of you processing reality without their running narrative telling you what you think about it, so I understand.
he's self serving but it's funny to see the left coming out with hatred for billionaires suddenly. If purchasing Twitter is such a threat to free press then for example Bezos should never have been able to buy Washington Post. There was no uproar about that.
Elon Musk is an individual with his own money. He can buy what he likes, if twitter doesn't like it they can dilute the shares as they're going to do now, effectively killing any shareholders potential to make profit from their investment.
No idea, I think it’s expected they would start to worry, that an opinionated billionaire has showed interest in buying a massive media outlet like Twitter.
Own the media and you can own most of the minds..
Own the minds and you dictate the vote.
Can understand the agitation. I’m a lone wolf thinker anyway, so I couldn’t give two hoots what happens. No one ever agrees with me, and I rarely agree with anyone else 😂
Im neither left or right, I go back on forth depending on every issue. My hearts with humanity, and finding the logically most beneficial outcome.
They aren’t worried; the left and the right are two sides of the same coin. Time for everyone to wake up, not be “ woke” but completely awake. They all have the same goal, NWO. They are really good at playing/ pitting people against on another to forward the overall agenda at any cost. #devilworshipers #adrenichome #humantrafficing #childtrafficing #newworldorder #govermentelites #hollyweird #yougetplayed #youhavebeenplayed #bothsides

I am a little surprised he has come out on the side of free speech especially since most of the people who will buy a TEsla are liberals. I bet they will buy some other electric car now. I am still suspicious of his motives. He may be just trying to run up the stock price so he can make more money. I really hopes he is sincere and wants to promote free speech in social media.
Don't care one bit, never bothered with the platform and in my opinion he is just wasting his money. If he really wants a free speech platform, he needs to use or build one which allows larger contexts. I don't think twitter is the right format for such debates.
A platform that size that allowed more than one opinion to be heard is a huge threat to the left, which survives by suppressing and destroying it’s enemies. The left has nothing substantive or reality-based to offer, it gets really nervous and violent when someone who does have something substantive to offer and has added to instead of taken from society is willing to let all voices not just the ones the left approves of be heard.
I love it completely and find the whole thing absolutely hilarious. Musk is a free speech absolutist and against censorship. I hope it happens.
I hope it does too.
@siseñor I don't like or hate Musk. I happen to believe his cars are overpriced and overhyped. However he's a better option for Twitter than Jack Dorsey, who believes he's a deity that gets to dictate to the rest of the planet what does and doesn't get publicized, and what does and doesn't get censored.
Plus Dorsey's beard looks like a place Murder Hornets would build a nest. 😂
@siseñor All people, at some point in time, in some way, for whatever reason (s), have been selfish, benefiting themselves, and have been self-serving since the dawn of time. So that's not really a compelling argument. Musk may very well be "an absolute dickhead", but being a jerk isn't a crime.
i already know about that first part.
he fired an employee for giving an honest review of tesla technology, and in his long-spanning history with tesla he certainly does not seem much of the free speech absolutist he so claims to be. tesla discourages its employees heavily from talking about faults within to the public. his own company is a stain on this image he is choosing to portray.
i really think he is just a self-centered and egotistical man who wants to be in control, and thus is now pushing out this image of himself in the hope of garnering more favour. the whole thing's not for anyone but himself.
@siseñor Well being a ruthless businessperson may make Musk an unsavory jerk, but it's not necessarily hypocritical behavior. Many companies have policies about sharing research, development, and technology outside of the workplace, so competitors don't pirate their work. Apple and Samsung suing one other over this a few years ago comes to mind. As for Musk firing an employee for being critical of Tesla technology and sharing his review specifically (I'm guessing that you're talking about the guy that posted on YouTube), Musk may very well be wrong, and that employee may very well be correct (I wouldn't be surprised at all). However there's no rule or law that states that business owners can't fire employees that violate legal company policies. It might be mean, but it's not illegal.
If Musk told a random person out in the general public to stop criticizing Tesla technology while touting free speech, that would definitely be hypocritical behavior. However, refusing to no longer *pay* someone to be critical of Tesla technology? That's just basically common sense. If you owned a company, and I worked for you, and I kept telling you and all my coworkers around me something like, "Hey @siseñor... you're always wrong, everything you're doing is stupid, and your company sucks.", would you want to keep PAYING me to be there, even if there was a chance that I was correct?
the process of writing these concietedly long paragraphs is tiring asf
i'm not necessarily saying that elon is stupid or that he's always wrong and his company sucks - i'm saying that it's a bit rich of him to say these things about himself because of how he has behaved, and that others shouldn't be so blindly complacent towards everything he does because he doesn't always have the best motives.
the way you spoke to me in that example also isn't the appropriate way to get a point across, to call me names instead of have a conscious debate is a sign of incompetence - if i remember correctly the employee in question was handling legitimate concerns within the technology, not calling his boss an eejit. i would fire u for saying that pointless stuff instead of being constructive xd
@siseñor Admittedly my example was a bit too rudimentary and generalized (for the main reason you just cited... long typing).
I'm definitely not one of those who are blindly complacent towards Musk. I'd never own a Tesla, and I'm not even on Twitter. In fact, GaG is my only social media. 😂
I just believe that anything that promotes less censorship (on Twitter or anywhere) is a good thing... even if Musk is playing some sort of angle for selfish reasons.
If the only goal is to destroy a platform that leans one way or another the person has too much money. Get a life, lol.
I wonder what will happen to Trump's class-action lawsuit that has been filed. Thousands of people are suing in this Twitter lawsuit for being banned or cancelled for no reason other than being on the right and expressing verbage for the right.
Because the left is against free speech. They like to spread lies and suppress the truth, along with banning their political opposition's viewpoints, but they allow terrorists to stay on their site.
Billionaires are psychopaths so it’s not good for any psychopath to own mass media
please tell me you're one of those weirdo loner dudes who spends all day online, likes cryptocurrency and worships the cult of elon musk and think he is a genius.
@Zeldaismyqueen He’s got you there.
Elon musk is good at having stupid people think he is smart. He was born rich, he didn’t invent anything lol, but he got ya brainwashed
It is
Because
Well
I’m dumb too
I’m a leftist and I don’t care if Elon has a social media website. I don’t care about Twitter, I believe people inflate its importance and I wouldn’t mind seeing it die finally. But there’s also a chance he makes it better
This is going to be much more violent than Putin-Ukraine as THIS MOVE is a Global Declaration of War.
Nah, Elon will just make it shittier than it already is.
How so?
I’m more worried about Bill Gates buying up farmland.
BlackRock already took care of this... Vanguard as well
Because the left won't have a monopoly on information exchanged on Twitter anymore.
I think they just down 1 man controlling something as large as twitter.
Because he wants to bring back freedom of speech to twitter.
From what Musk said he wants to open it up completely for Russian bots and right-wing conspiracy nuts. Given the prevalence of social media that's not a good thing for your country.
The lefts are already worried?
Because he's gonna take away their safe space
I hope he does. Leftist meltdown will be glorious
I absolutely love it.
Why?
Because Twitter is to one sided.
How is it one-sided? Which side does it fall more to?
The liberals, who else.
It’s fantastic, I hope he wins.
We worry about a lot of things. It’s what we do.
This is retarded.
I don't have idea
