Assuming this story is true (I was fired because _____ stories often tell only a fraction of the story), that's pretty dumb. CHL holders are statistically less likely to commit crimes than off-duty cops, so letting someone go from the workplace on the grounds of safety for that reason is counter-intuitive.

That... that doesn't make any sense. A government position would have all KINDS of loopholes you'd have to leap through to fire someone; I'm very dubious that this is actually what happened.
