Why do you all think that no one helped that lady on the NY subway who was burning alive?

I've seen a lot of opinions floating around, but one fact that's clear is that no one was helping her during the videos. People watching, recording, and walking by. No one helping. Why though?

Yeah, I can see that too. Imagine going to help her and the murderer, who was sitting right there, gets aggressive with you. Now, you have to use force to protect yourself and the victim, so you're risking your own life and going to trial or prison if things don't go well.

That much is abundantly clear. But the real question is why? Why don't men want to jump in to save women?

I've also stopped doing anything to help women. I have no clue why. I wasn't like this growing up. The last time I helped a woman (her car and broke down) was about five years ago. I didn't know it was a woman until it was too late. And I ended up regretting it completely. And will never do anything like that again.

When I tried holding a door for a woman 8 years ago, she gave me nasty attitude and said thank you to the guy holding open the other door for her. So they aren't appericated for doing favors for women. And I saw some black woman complaining about men on the train not giving up their seats like they used to. Unless I see the person is disabled or something I don't give my seat up.

If one person step up 20 others would have joined. So the same mentality of 20 people aren't stepping up i won't step up. Momentum is your friend and inertia is your enemy.

That is a deep ingrained survival lizard Brain wiring. Inclosed in a subway has a lot to do with it. Open air i see people throwing haymaker's hoping for the best and everyone in shouting distance comes investigating.

That tube is already a coffin with no escape back up plan. It's a compounding effect.

So yes fight every instinct in your body to help people in a public space. even in a subway because other people will help you but it will be the scariest trama inducing experience in your life.

Only thing worse is seeing it and doing nothing going what if endlessly.

Fuck this got me stewing. I help someone getting sucker punch out and body blocking and 20 guys instep with me.

Now it got me thinking where is the good guy with a gun or even the division of Daniel Penny in the same subway. Is our killing population holding hostage from our natural de-escalate natural instincts. So overall it's do or die.

I don't know. It's crazy this much is happening in new york at once.

The police did not recognize the suspect when they saw him which might mean there were no immediate witnesses to the incident due to an empty cubicle. The news stations lied about the woman being asleep on the subway which means they may also have lied about the time or location of the incident. It could have been at 3 in the morning in a hidden corner some where that nobody could see.

Because no one was a trained fireman. Only a fuckwit would have tried, and would likely have got killed as well.

Understand that it's not everyone's job to help everyone. Know your limits and you will know not to make the situation worse by interfering.

Some people make things better by getting involved, some people make them worse by getting involved.

A lot of it was probably shock and disbelief at the fact they'd watched someone get set on fire. Then, as a second point, I'm sure part of it was because of the Daniel Penny situation.
