Jordan Neely, a homeless man, died after being placed in a chokehold by another passenger on a New York City subway train.

The man who choked him has not been identified, and nobody has been arrested as of yet. The incident was filmed and has led to investigations by both the police and prosecutors.

The city’s medical examiner confirmed that Jordan Neely's death was a homicide caused by compression of his neck as a result of the chokehold.

The district attorney's office is conducting a rigorous investigation, which includes reviewing the medical examiner’s report, assessing available footage, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining additional medical records.

The police are also investigating the incident.

Hadn't heard of it. I'm actually semi disgusted at the question at the moment.

If you turn to another channel there's a young woman (white) hiking in a peaceful park... attacked from behind and murdered, assumably by a man (black man with a record indicating he had serious problems but walking free)... and there is no outrage, could barely find the article on CNN or MSNBC.

But when you've got a black man whose going nuts and a white person restrains (that's how the media sees it) and he dies, all hell breaks loose.

Our society is jacked. Lets call this what it is... a love and respect problem, that is the solution.

I feel bad for the guy killed... I wasn't there... but I assume he was just acting out of desperation. the solution to this is compassion and caring. To go as far as to restrain him, he had to be really bad, so I can't judge the man taking him down. I responded with compassion to the black man whom approached me, and that's why it didn't end up on the news. We gotta learn. This dude was apparently bugging people because he was hopeless. Restraining an enraged hopeless person that wants to die, can go bad. Doing that to a black person now means chaos ensues as it strikes a deep pain.

He was trying to make a living and had failed. He was screwed by the system and society I complain about on a daily basis... the nyc school system is garbage, his culture of African American is garbage... ahemm... I mean, unless you make it in sports or as a rap star, ya better do well in school and get a degree and a job. We'll, that is hard in nyc as black people who don't accept "european demeanor" and culture get pushed into Harlem where the opportunities are few. Bad grades... and they are "screwed"... cause ain't good jobs for them. Chinese people ain't' gonna hire them nor the Jews. You aren't either...

Who knows what his support system and family was like... won't judge whom I haven't met. All of that, and he's supposed to "find himself", be his best self and be successful like all the chinese around him. There's no way in hell, like a rat in a hopeless maze... he'd need to find Jesus and mentors, build some skills and maybe. Sad! I've been seeing this for so long and just repeats like a broken record.

The city I think will chew people up, AA inner city society is very disconnected from "business" society and accepted culture. I see this in my Chinese family... they immediately pass on wealth to the children, support them, every year they get money, they get support, encouragement and help. The Jewish do the same. Some people join Churchs and there some support can be found and development and positive community that builds the spirit. Are these black kids getting that in their culture or are they left out to dry and wither in the coldness of this disconnected society? Ever been to NYC... it's the most socially social place I've ever seen. It screw up any human or dog. But NYC people love it, to me it's sick.

There's lots of solutions... whom wants to hear them? I really despise demonrats (intentional mispelling) right now because in my view, they are propagating the very misery they complain about... up unto the point they run away from it to another city to escape it. Hitler could never see he had problems. "The devil" think she's a good guy. Things can be confusing, so have to challenge ones self and ones beliefs.

These days... you can't restrain a black man and kill him, that don't work. You can't shoot him... that is very risky if make one mistake, your life is over. You can't beat him... been beaten plenty, that don't work.

Gonna have to learn to respond with love, compassion and kindness in the face of death and harm.. and that is harder since some of them really will "clock you" and end your life, although most are still good and decent people just trying to survive.

Is there any video of what was going on before the passenger grabbed the victim? That seems like the key here - Was the victim acting in a way that could reasonably be interpreted as a serious threat?

The video attached shows the victim acting in a harmless fashion, dancing etc, but that video was not taken just before this incident.

If there isn't video from before he was grabbed, then it will come down to interviews with the other passengers. (or are there security cameras in subway cars).

So far I don't see enough to decide whether or not the victim was acting in a sufficiently threatening way that attempting to restrain him was justified.

The lunatic black guy was assaulting people and finally met some that wouldn't put up with him. He got what he should have gotten a long time ago. If NY had open carry, he wouldn't have gotten choke hold, he'd have been shot dead. People are sick of the criminal menace that leftists are letting loose on society. Have to wait til all the facts come out including footage and witnesses account to make a fair judgment, nevertheless from what I have heard from Neely's criminal record the guy is a big P. O. S.

You start randomly physically attacking old people and try to kidnap a little girl then f*@& him.

Justice outside of court system finally caught up with his wickedness.

In saying all that if the evidence proves the guy who put him in a unjust chokehold then he should be sent to jail as well for Neely's death.

It's sad, but there's not enough info to go off of here. I saw a little clip of it and heard it went on for 15 minutes and that the guy was an ex marine, I don't know how true any of that is.

What I do know is if one of those homeless people started attacking me, I'd be in fight or flight mode. Anyone who can seriously sit here and act like they know how they would have acted and what the right answer was is basically a narcissist.

When you get onto a fight with a total stranger your adversary is an unknown quantity. You don't know if they have a gun or knife. You don't know if they are on drugs. You don't know if they are a black belt in some martial art or that they are simply stronger than you. If you get the upper hand you cannot stop because it can get you killed. Fights are not like you see on television. People do not fight fair and will kill you if you let them.

This guy was a threat and there was somebody on that train who decided to intervene, He got him in a choke hold and brought him down. He had the guy under control and had to stay with him because his life may have depended on it.

Too bad they will arrest him and prosecute him for murder. A civilian medal of valor would be more appropriate.

Obvi he was having a crazy moment, as I’ve read he was throwing trash at people. haven't read he actually hurt or struck anyone. But I would definitely be afraid of that. And perhaps try to hold him down.

The reason his killer is prob charged with homicde is he kept choking the guy after he was anywhere near a threat. Maybe the killer didn’t mean it, so negligent manslaughter sounds like where’s it’s headed.
