Realistically people that were hit really bad will need to be relocated to near by cities into apartments and they will probably have to find new jobs. It will take a long time to receive insurance claims/FEMA money to repair/rebuild their home. In the mean time they have to live somewhere and move on with life. They have to get back to work. Their kids have to get back to school. So if you could find a way to relocate the newly homeless to say the east coast into an apartment and find them a job you’d be a hero to that family. It took years to rebuild after Andrew. I remember driving past devastated neighborhoods on I-95 for a big portion of my childhood. People can’t sit around in a pile of rubble for years. This being a 500 year flood event will be the same. It will take many months to years to rebuild the power and road infrastructure and to rebuild neighborhoods, business, and general local economy.

That said not everyone is totally destroyed. The media will focus on the worst of it obviously. For example everyone I know over there is perfectly fine. They where in the northern eye wall the entire storm taking the heaviest winds but their homes are perfectly fine. They lost the screens over their pools, their fences blew down, a number of trees fell around their homes, they had to screw their doors closed during the storm because the negative pressure sucked their locked doors open, but being that there was a negative storm surge where an 18 foot storm surge was expected they experienced no flooding, they have no roof damage, their cars, boats, etc. are all fine. They have gas to run their generators, food and supplies on hand to survive several weeks to months without too much issues. They do work remotely though and their employers want them to go back to work. Without internet and infinite electricity that makes it very difficult. 2 million plus people are without electricity at the moment, so if you have remote employees give them a break.

I’m sure the state has food, water, and medical supplies lined up for everyone. We’re generally really prepared for this sort of thing as are individual citizens. The hard part is getting your insurance claims and then waiting to get your home rebuilt. Even without the disaster, it takes an entire year to build a home here in Florida due to the housing demand.

A lot of habitat for humanity sort of stuff happened after Andrew as I remember it. So maybe that is a way to think about things. Crews of construction workers/volunteers with denoted construction materials to rebuild homes for people who have no where else to go. Just something to think about...

They shouldn't of lived they’re in the first place. they knew the risk of living where A hurricane is. yet they decided that They wanna live by a hurricane 🌀 It’s there fault nobody held them at Gunpoint saying live here or Say hello to my little friend.
Hopefully they can heal and be better and can get there life straightened out but they decided living there is the next Level so I don’t feel bad for people who decided to live by Mr Hurricane 🌀

I guess there are many organizations providing food and supplies to people in need like American red cross and local fundraisers
