Anther member of congress dies of old age in office... Shocker...

Since FDR's "new deal" gave congress soo many more vast powers to sell than we can could all ever actually vote on in every federal election.

The bulk of said powers and money became available to buy votes. Thus the reelection rate rose from 50% to 90% where it has remained ever since.

This is how government power and money corrupts democracy precisely by giving the politicians so much more to sell for power than we the taxpayers could ever abject to much-less know about.

Democrats wanted campaign finance reform but really you need simply to prohibit businesses and individuals who receive money or contracts from goverment from participating in the elections of the goverment politicians involved by terms of contract.

That way only the people paying for and allegedly benefiting from the service actually get a say on the subject. good luck getting politicians to agree to that as it would cripple their reelection hopes.

Iam a conservative. Even though she was a Democrat, there is no joy in learning of her death. I do think she should have retired one or two terms ago, but I can also understand why she would hang on to her position.

I don't rejoice at any death. In this case I find I'm far more upset at the passing of David McCallum at the same age (90) as his life was dedicated to bringing enjoyment and entertainment to all, both liberal AND conservative from Ilya Kuriakin to Donald "Ducky" Mallard.

For those who are responsible for the governance of any nation I believe there should be a limit to the number of terms they can serve and the age they should be under at the END of the term - and 80 is too old.

She did a lot of good things before becoming an extreme leftist liberal. I wish she had retired from Congress several years ago so she could have enjoyed her retirement without being in the public spotlight as the oldest Senator.

May she rest in peace.

I find it interesting that California Governor Gavin Newsome has vowed to name a black woman to replace her until the next election. I'm not so sure that Dianne Feinstein would like that to be a racist decision, not one based on merit.

Farbstein has been my senator for my entire life honestly. I only voted for her once, in 1996. 1992 I was 16-year-old when she took office. I think she is a prime example of what's wrong with our country. There should be term limits on congressmen and women.

I been waiting on decades for her to step down.

Feel sad for the family's loss but this sounds like a commitment to power and greed. At some point you need to be reasonable and say I can retire and spend time with my family or just kick your feet up enjoying your final years. The fact that we have so many politicians holding power for decades and there so old that there showing mental decline, shows there committed more to getting money from corporations than being a civil servant.

she was the reason why so many immigrants (not all but most) with high criminal background were able to cross the border and infest the whole state of Cali with the crime rate it has now. I heard she even built shelter for them and supported them with other freebies

My only recollection of Feinstein is her mishandling of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearing. Possibly her judgement was impaired by extreme oldness.
