What do you think about China creating their own hardware and software to bypass US sanctions?

First alternative OS based on Android are created by Huawei and XiaoMi (the latter almost got sanctioned). Then with Nvidia enterprise and even some consumer GPUs being banned, they make their own custom hardware for AI that's far superior. And now they make Loongson CPUs, which are supposed to be CISC based and are an alternative to x86, rivalling Zen3 CPUs. Oh, and of course I can't forget that China along with Russia and North Korea have made their own computer OS based off of Linux. I think America is either retarded for sanctioning Russia and China as they just create their own stuff, or they're (and I mean globalists) really smart to allow them to compete with the West.

So what else is new? They've been doing that kind of stuff for a long time. That's why some of those Chinese companies have grown so fast. The Chinese government blocks competition, and gives the Chinese companies a virtual monopoly.

The other countries let them get by with it. If they block our companies, we should block their companies too. It's completely one-sided. They should never have been given favored nation status. It should be revoked, but nobody has the balls to do it.

Every country has different categories when it comes to trade. It has to do with trade restrictions, tariffs, etc. Favored nation status (or Most Favored Nation) has the least restrictions and tariffs. I think favored nation basically just means normal, with no special restrictions or tariffs.

The US gave China favored nation status, I think in the late 90s. It was controversial and barely passed Congress. As I understand it, it was also conditional upon China making progress in human rights. I think this alone could be a reason to revoke the status.

As far as I know, all countries do this. So it's not the UN or any other international agency, although they may have a say in it.

Needs must. What needs to happen though is stopping Chinese buisnesses undercutting western buisnesses in western markets.

The Chinese reverse engineer everything anyway. My company sold stuff to China a few years ago trying to get in on the huge imagined Chinese economy but what happened was they only accepted a few examples and reverse engineered it selling it around the globe costing us jobs.

Reverse engineering is not wrong or illegal. It's copying that's both wrong and illegal. China is well known for copying, and pirating which is even worse. I've worked for a couple of companies that refused to sell anything to China.

Reverse engineering is extremely common in the US. I even interviewed for a job reverse engineering competitor products. It was a major US company, and they had two entire groups whose job it was to reverse engineer. One group was for cost analysis and the other group was for technical analysis.

I've worked for a lot of US companies in engineering. I think most of them did at least some reverse engineering.

@WindAtMyBack and how is reverse engineering different from espionage or piracy? well in Eastern cultures they take collectivism very seriously, and sadly that also means sharing of ideas. only reasons why Japan, South Korea, and Singapore are different are due to them obeying the USA for protection, wealth, and other benefits.

Morality is not the issue but what's best for the us and our partners. It would be absolutely foolish to allow another nation to profit from the research and development of the us and undercutting us.

What companies do is no different than you buying a computer and opening it to look inside. Or buying a car and looking inside the engine. It's your computer or car and you can do what you want with it.

The difference is what you do with the information. Directly copying the product for your own profit makes it wrong. Just looking at it does not violate any IP protections.

Some companies actually do things to thwart this. For example in electronics, they may put fake circuits in there. If someone directly copies the product, in court they would not be able to explain what those fake circuits do, because they don't do anything. Companies will also put fake markings on parts. A microprocessor might be a common off-the-shelf processor. But the company remarks it. The manufacturer of the processor will even do it at their customer's request. So if comes from the factory with fake markings.

It was entirely predictable that China would want to develop indigenous systems, also because it would harder to hack them.

But those operating systems are based on Android and Linux, which have backdoors for the CIA and other US agencies to exploit
