It could be, like it could be not. The Soviet Union spent more than 75 years trying to match western and American technological progress, and still lagged behind.

It's a weird situation - the West has the know-how, but not the resources. Russia had the resources, but not the know-how. This is what makes me so angry to both Americans and Russians - if they put aside their stupid differences, they could very well usher the world into a new era of prosperity. And instead, they just choose to divide, destroy, and exploit it.

I am at this point worried about Russia and China creating a “Eurasian Alliance” along with perhaps Indian, Pakistan, and Iran.


China and Russia aren’t really friends like for example American and France; there is actually a lot of tension between then but our sanctions are pushing them closer together.
India is allied with the West but they have also been friendly with Russia since Independence. We sanctioned India when they refused to sanction Russia pushing them against us and pushing them closer to Russia.
India and India don’t get along at this time but that could change at some point.


I want a sort of “Pan European Alliance” to come into existence to hedge against Chinese expansion.
An alliance that involves Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
An economic and military alliance.
But this whole thing is messing that up.

I think Russia is already pretty technologically advanced.

In theory, yes. In practice, they'll probably just endure it (they're Russians; endurance is what they DO) until it's all reversed. Competition, however, isn't a bad thing; think of France, going ahead with building nuclear reactors when the rest of the West was avoiding them, and now leading it in clean energy.

Russia and china, to a certain extent, are working in concert on that front. Russia's cyber spying is quite efficient. China has a whole warehouse full on computers at same time. China is way ahead on 5G so back end viral attack is not difficult. They did that to google decade ago. Anyway, no one is behind.

Russia already does compete against the West with its huge and very successful armaments industries. It wouldn't be able to do it in other areas without state protection because property rights are weak there and it's a dictatorship.
