I saw a statistic that, the one who gave the most money to donation collectors were those who were poor themselves, do believe it? Yes or No?

I'm not saying all rich people are greedy or focused on money. I read in the newspaper today about a very wealthy tech CEO who won $40,000,000 in the lottery and decided to give everything to charity because he was already filthy rich and did not need the money. His wife had died a few years ago from cancer so most if not all the money went towards organizations that help cancer patients.

Yes. I believe those with less money are more likely to give to others.
I know from my past when money was tight and I was grocery shopping, I would see those donation cards for the food banks, and struggling myself I would feel more for others and I always donated $5. When I stopped struggling with money I don't think about the struggle people have today. Now if I see someone struggling I'll help them out...
But I need to see them to be reminded that people still struggle.

If true, it’s tragic to hear unless those who are rich instead are actively engaged in helping others create wealth for themselves, that trumps charity in my opinion. Helping someone stand on their own two feet is truly liberating.

well, I could be wrong but I think muslims donate a ton of money because their zakat, or alms, is... I don't know if it's mandatory or just highly encouraged. i would think that donations from many muslims who are not wealthy would add up. likewise, probably most religious people in general donate a lot to charity, and these tend to be common people. but then, I don't know how this stacks to philanthropists like bill gates, who donates a ton of money, though it might not technically be to a collector? interesting idea

I believe it. In my dad's home country, there is a lot of poverty, but culturally, you are taught to help everyone that you can. It might be something so simple as offering a blanket, or a cup of water to a traveller coming through, but you do it without hesitation even if what you're offering is just about all you have left. In turn, someone helps you, and you don't allow others to fall by the wayside. This philosophy doesn't seem to apply to the 1% who take and take and make life worse for the poor because they can't be touched. They just care about their own families and giving and stealing from everyone else, all they can to make sure they remain at the top. It's sickening really.

When rich people donate money its usually because they want to avoid paying taxes, so its money they would have to pay anyway, but now they "look better".

And obviously when someone rich donates a huge pile of money, its just pennies compared to his overall wealth.

There are certainly some exceptions but thats how its usually goes down.
