Would you donate money to charity if you were rich?

Hell NO!
Charities are SCAMS!
I rather give it to those Homeless walking around with signs. Even though those guys might use it for DR—GS.
You don’t know WHERE Charities really go to!
You think these governments care about the poor people in Africa… Nigeria?
Absolutely Not! They do nothing for those guys!
And every time someone has done some type of help or Charity for it.. it gets taken down quick.
If you only knew….
It’s in the word itself “Governments” “GOVERNNN”, “TAKE OVERRRR”.
Helloooo….
huh? i can assure you they are not scams, or at least the ones that i know of. If you got scared of that you could do indepth research and maybe meet with them and have a discussion if theyd talk to you
I am not rich! And I already donate to two foundations. The first is a foundation for prostate cancer where me and my bearded friends donate a small pay every month and does not effect our economy. The second, we donate for a foundation for kids with cancer and this one is more fun because we go to hospitals and meet the kids and play with them video games, make clay houses, have a tea party, makeup and so on, so imagine kids putting make up on 30+ year old bearded men , they help us doing our nails too it is hilarious and makes them feel happy. The wife donates for two foundations too, one for breast cancer and the second is for kids with diabetes. We are not rich and if we were rich! Of course we would donate more.
You don't need to be rich to donate to charity. You can give in proportion to your disposable income. Even easier, you can buy extra canned and dry goods at the grocery store and donate them to a local food bank. My local grocery store (Publix) has a collection point in the store to receive such donations.
Yeah. I like to donate, but sadly haven't been able to afford to for quite some time.
I'd love to also fund pro-bono therapy for people who need it in my city. Our government has no mental health support programs, so it must fall to citizens to organize.

Looking at my 2021 IRS 1040 I think I gave a lot away. I generally do NOT donate to a charity. I do donate to some military things like toys for tots. I also help military get home on emergency leave etc. I won't call charities in general scams, but I am bothered by the amounts kept for admin purposes. Same for religious situations. Also let's not forget that money is not the only thing to donate. Several years before Covid I has in the hospital for an undisclosed reason when a young girl knocked on my door. She was a volunteer who made me smile.
I think I would rather give it directly TO the people that needed it! I've heard about charities that keep most, if not all of the money for themselves!! I was gonna produce a compilation album to benefit breast cancer research a good while ago and then, discovered that, whatever money you give those places, they pocket!! Around the same time, I also discovered that there are nearly 400 known natural cures for cancer so, the entire idea (except the part about trying to get my own label off the ground and helping a lot of great local bands get heard by a wider audience) went bust, so to speak.
I already do, plus my family donates some of the family business' production to the Food bank and other charities.
However, you don't need to be rich to donate, like @HaveNoName has said.
Also, money and goods are not the only way you can help others charitably - volunteering and dedicating time to community service is also a form of charity.
Yes, but I would also do a lot of research. I would also be an angel investor or help out small businesses, possibly only making a little something back, but more to help out… and maybe do the “secret Santa” things where I just pay it forward. Do local charities and non profits as well so it goes back to help where I live.
When I get rich, I want to start my own charity/organization to help put an end to people forced into human trafficking.
I think red cross might be worth giving money to. And anything that helps kids who are unlikely to be successful without someone to invest in them.
Yeah. What's annoying is when multibillion dollar companies ask if I want to tack on and extra $10 to my bill to donate. I've got a very strict budget, the company that earns more money than anyone could ever spend over multiple lifetimes can fuckin' donate.
That I care about yes. Couple Autism Charities. Individual families I would setup trust funds for them/cover scholarships. Cover some debts anonymously for friends
Ideally I'd be a silent millionaire until years later when I setup social media's for the purpose of showing what I'm doing business wise to further grow
If I were swimming in money I would donate & I would only donate locally because I would at least know where the money was going. When it comes to charities it’s amazing how much money doesn’t go to help people out & it’s amazing how much CEO’s in those charities make. $200,000+ bonuses!
I donate to charity now, and I'm not rich! Being rich doesn't mean someone will donate to charity.
When they showed the tax forms for the last several Presidents, there was a distinct pattern of charitable giving by Republican Presidents and a severe LACK of charitable donations from Democrat Presidents.
Being wealthy doesn't mean people WILL donate. It has to do with their attitude about life.
I'm not rich, and I do donate to charity. I have a couple favorite charities that I donate to at least once a year. One is St Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis Tennessee; it does a fantastic job of treating children with cancer, at no cost to their families.
Probably no. I personally have a moral dilemma with charity overall. For one, paying for charity is for a large part for yourself to feel better not to help. Then how do I decide? Every time i donate, how do i legitimate that specific cause vs. Any other?
A lot of people donate money but it’s still fraction of what they enjoy for themselves or they are afraid of going to hell and they donate all of their money to charity when they die. Plus charity organization spend so much money advertising it and run their organization they spend only 5% of donation to actual charity I heard. I donate my money to my church as a tithe. I feel I have to because it’s my community and I have to share the burdens. I feel I get blessed financially that way. My dad makes more money if I do.
nope... I would not hand money to charities
I would make sure to invest the money myself... on a few causes that are very needed, also in the areas in which they could be of more immediate and substantial help
Charities are the biggest scam of today's, i never seen Big news about any little organisation that have given a home to a homeless, a car, a place to stay to someone, a big food cetre, or shelter to homeless from all the "little money" making over period of times...
No I would start my own so I know money is going to where is it to go to most of the time the money goes to pay for the salary of someone in a big office driving a BMW not to the poor or needy they want use to donate are hard earned money they need to donate their time
I prefer to help who need help personaly. And i usualy do not give money. If he/she need food i can buy food. If he/she need money to pay rent i pay rent not give money to him/her. I'm always using this way. Asking for requirements and helping about it not directly give money.
The senior center helped me out a lot with my mother delivering lunch meals which allowed me more time for her direct care. I would love to return that in some way. So, yes.
If I was rich I would go out and help them myself. If I got the funds why not put matters into my own hands and help someone in immediate need?
Nope. So many charities are frauds that launder money for bad purposes. It's better to just continue to invest in your own community ans bring up the standard of living where you live.
I'm not exactly rich, but I'm more than comfortable, I already make fairly sizable donations to local independent charities. I won't support national or international charities on principal though.
Yes, why not... charities rely on donations. I know extremely rich people. A girlfriend of mine donated 3 million dollars to one charity and 5 million to another charity the same year.
No, most of them not even 5% of what's raised ever makes it to the "cause". I'd do it a bit different. Setup my own foundation to insure its spent wisely & not a gross salary boost for the executives.
You do not have to be rich to pay charity.. if you earn then you should pay charity according to your own financial ability. There are always people worse off than you. There are always people who do not have a roof to live under or meals to eat.
Nah I'd create my own foundation aa a non profit, donate to that for a tax credit, and have it do weird shit that really shouldn't count as charity, like provide scholarships to sexy clowns or something.
I wouldn't need to. I could help directly if I cared, that way I know the money went to the right things.
No its my money and their scams. But i would donate food toys bedding and blankets to animal shelters and rescues!
No. I'd help individuals out but most charities only use a very small percentage of total donations towards helping people. Not saying they are bad per se but I'd rather get more bang for my back in helping.
I wouldn't donate to most charaties but their are things or people I would support.
You don't have to be rich to have charity, even I see the homeless do charity too
I don’t think so.. I think I’d start my own charity and fund underprivileged children in low income/ minority communities.
Yes, but people should give money to charities anyway.
If I really thought the charity was genuine and was in an area I cared about.
No, but I would creat options for change. If someone wants to get "out" of poverty then it's a choice. If i create that choice then it's up to them.
Not without doing some research on how much of the money going to the actual charity. I don't trust charity's like American Red Cross etc.
All of my Life. Even if a Millionaire, Probably Build a foundation. xx
Some, maybe. But would want to secure my families future for generations. So my kids grand kids would have a stable financial base
I rather put it directly in the hands of the person in need
Omg yes… my fam gives tons to help underprivileged children and adoption services.
I have donated, it jut wasn't a lot, but every little bit helps.
So if all you can give is a dollar or your time that is just fine.
I am not rich but I already donate money to charities.
i wouldn't give to charities infact i would make a company/charity too fund poor people's nessecary requirements as in proper shelter and mass food production for them
We aren't rich but we still donate to charities - our church every month, and some other charities on a rotating basis every three months.
I would prefer to fund sustainability research or community projects directly, I don’t trust charities really
Nah. Charities are the biggest frauds and money laundering spots. So no. I would give out directly though.
Most major charities are scams nowadays with admin and board salaries in the millions so i'd rather put the money into someone's hands who needs it.
I would create my own charitable foundation. I think most charities are scams.
not money but I would definitely help with resources
No. I'd raise a charity of my own to make sure that help gets to the right people.
I donate regardless. Middle Class? This country ain't the effed yet. Unless you are end of times aficionados.
I’m not rich and I donate now. No need to be rich to give.
Doctors Without Borders is supposed to be a good one to donate to.
I donated even when I was broke so yes. Makes me feel better.
Probably not. I've seen a lot of shitty ones that just collect contributions without actually doing anything. Granted donations are tax deductible..
no. because being rich means nothing with this inflation lol.
Yes starting with the red cross and the society for the blind
I donate now. I would absolutely do it if I was rich.
Donate No
but I would try to help them myself and get them a job.
Last I checked animals and orphaned children can’t work..
Yes, to St Jude’s and several military organizations
Of course, I donate money and time to charity even though I am not rich.
No I would help individuals one by one.
Charities are for the self righteous
