Unlikely. At least in theory all taxes go to services produced at cost, exploiting the economies of scale to make it cheaper. So it is (again in theory) impossible to waste tax dollars as whatever services people don't want we would simply stop paying for, thus reducing taxes overall. The problem is the tax burden is disproportionality shifted to the working class while the services disproportionality benefit the wealthy.

Well the taxes fund certain functions especially on the state level. Taxes fund police, healthcare, education, etc. I can’t exactly say if we are paying too much since that question is a loaded one involving different states, how its being utilized, how other countries have their taxes set up, etc.

@strateguy632 The tax payer money does go into that. Every trial with a jury, the tax payer pays for each juror’s time spent in the courtroom that is one example of where the money goes. Tax payer dollars goes into the education system which is why public school is free for your child to attend. Veteran benefits, student loan forgiveness, other systems are paid for via taxes.
Now, what I would like to see is the billionaires & millionaires paying higher rates than they do now then we lower the rates of the average person then we are all happy.

To address your question yes. Individuals are paying too much, corporations and ultra wealthy are paying too little and religions need to start paying.

50% of individuals are so poor they don't pay any taxes if I recall correctly. That leaves a crazy burden on an abused and stagnant middle class. We need tax rates like the 1950s to return.

Yes. There was a revolution over a 3% tax. We're taxed well over 50%
