Overall…. sad. And I hate Donald Trump, I think he’s a threat to American democracy and instills a piss poor attitude in some Americans. But I don’t want to see people being shot. I also feel bad for the attendees, as much as I disagree with them and would probably be disgusted by them if I saw them being interviewed about their positions, it’s hard to not have compassion when they’re standing on camera looking stunned and traumatized. These are fellow Americans —BADLY misguided fellow Americans—but fellow Americans just the same. And just fellow humans, fuck national allegiance.

Also, not for nothing, the right wing is going CRAZY about this, and on some level, I get it, you just saw your guy narrowly escape death. It’s wild shit. We’re all pretty shocked, on both sides of the aisle and those of us standing IN the aisle.

But I’m a little frustrated, and here’s why….

Its another one of those “if the situation were reversed” things…. the left has been classy as fuck about this. I’m not seeing much “damn, almost had him” sentiments, personally or in the media. Biden came out with an address last night that was spot on. We gotta chill out. There’s a line, and a line was crossed.

We don’t have an apples-to-apples exact comparison available, but I can’t help but remember that FoxNews and Trump himself were clowning around about Nancy Pelosi’s husband getting brained with a hammer. The empathy levels were for sure not the same.

And I’m frustrated, because amidst left-wing condemnation of the act, and taking a pause to show some level of empathy and decency to Trump and those killed or injured or emotionally scarred who were in attendance, we have the right wing just running wild, so badly desperate for the shooter to be a card-carrying liberal. There’s not a lot of confirmed info about it, there’s a lot we may never know, but all we really need to know is he was crazy. But the scarce info we do have includes that he’s on the voter rolls as a Republican, which is somewhat interesting, but don’t worry, the right wingers are being completely rational and non-conspiratorial about the whole thi—I’MMMMMMMM just kidding, they’re being lunatics and claiming everything from he registered as a Republican to throw us off the scent to this being put on and allowed by the always hilarious boogeyman “The Deep State.”

And I just can’t. I can’t even, even. I simply cannot, you guys. I’m exhausted, lmao. So goddamn fatigued of conspiracy theories and no one taking life at face value anymore, ignoring the obvious in favor of the implausible…. the ability of Americans to do all that on such a broad scale is a bigger enemy to America than any politician could ever be. Anyway…. I’m half-impressed and half-eye-rolling over Trump having the awareness to ham it up for the crowd and cameras and get his fist-pump photo op. So obviously contrived to people with basic critical thinking skills, but he’s a true showman for the less-than-bright, I’ll give him that😂

I was so goddamn relieved when my buddy sent me the picture of the dead shooter…. I agree with a lot of what you said, but let's not pretend the MAGA folks are the only dramatic ones. Every anti-MAGA ad or statement uses the phrase "extremist MAGA views." Is it really extremist to not want to spend tax dollars on those illegally in the country? Is it extremist to want other NATO countries to contribute the share all NATO countries agreed to contribute? Just because some may not agree in principle with the MAGA principles doesn't really make those principles "extreme." Even you called Trump a threat to American democracy. That’s what’s kind of disingenuous about the MAGA movement to me, is they try to play this innocent role like “WHAT? It’s of no inconvenience to me to use a “preferred pronoun” or anything like that, and all objections to it seem very poorly founded.

I have questions about that too, athletically, and it may be that we can’t fairly compete them vs biological females, and that’s an ok answer to arrive at, if it’s arrived at respectfully and with equal concern for the outcomes for the trans-women. If we need a trans-women division, fine. If we have to have a hard-but-honest conversation about why trans-women will be often competitively advantaged, that’s fine.

What’s NOT fine is approaching the whole thing like trans people are subhuman freaks who don’t deserve any kind of kindness or consideration. Don’t treat them like it’s some weird perversion that children need to be shielded from. That trans adult was wired to be trans at birth. If you disagree and think it’s learned behavior, tell me how many lessons it would require for you to want to switch your gender?

And the amount of trans women who are even IN SPORTS to begin with is MINISCULE, and far from a widespread problem. We can deal with those case by case, but people make that the #1 objection, and the amount of trans-women trying to compete in men’s sports might be as low as just DOZENS. I was shocked at first. Assassination threats, plots and attempts happen all the time (and most of them aren’t known to the public). However the fact this one was so close is crazy.

Anyway here are my thoughts overall:

• this really happened and was repeated by all major media outlets (including far left ones). If you are claiming this is “staged” at this point then you are in denial, living under a rock, a TDS moron or all three. A innocent spectator (who was a firefighter and a father) was murdered by that POS would be assassin.
• the FBI is claiming the shooter Matthew Thomas Crooks was likely a “lone wolf”. Given all the Lee Harvey Oswald types out there in combination of societal TDS I can believe that. I am not going to jump on conspiracy theory band wagons that Biden, Obama, China, etc was behind this.
• Trump really was shot in the ear and he turned his head milliseconds before the first shot. That is insane. You can believe in chance but I believe that’s divine intervention. No I don’t believe Trump is a “holy messenger” from God. But I believe God intervenes in all peoples lives no matter if they are good, evil, believers or secular.
• For you people out still claiming this is “staged” I just have to ask you why would Trump do something like this when he is already ahead in the polls and at a time Biden is absolutely cratering?
• I never have nor ever will wish death and political violence on politicians no matter how much I hate them. I wouldn’t wish this on AOC and the squad. I prayed for his safety just as I did when I found out he had Covid19. To me, there are two sides of Trump.
One: Candidate politician Trump who I absolutely hate for failing to do policies / generally does destructive behavior / has no regard & respect for the office also wish he was held accountable instead of being bailed out by SCOTUS.
Two: President & Former President Trump who even if I disagree with him / hate him, I understand that the title matters. That title President and former isn’t just a “big deal”, they won an election by the people for the people, are a living symbol of America, and are diplomats wanting to make a better day so, I will pray for any and all presidents because they matter.

I prayed for Trump when he was hospitalized with Covid19 and wanted him to live. I prayed for Trump when the news first broke out and wanted him to live.

I'm bored. It's like watching a tv show where you know exactly what the writer was thinking and you already know everything they're trying to set up and how everything is going to turn out. Since I stopped following American politics closely there hasn't been a single thing that was unexpected or that made me rethink things or peaked my interest again. It's like watching the same show over and over just with different actors.

None of this drama will affect any political change it's just a soap opera and a boring one at that like I said. Honestly I have to question the mental capacity of adults in their thirties and above who are so wrapped up in this stuff. The political system is a joke, representation is non-existent. They're a bunch of sports fans who think they're smart and their choices actually matter.

I respect sports fans way more because they just follow sports for fun they take it seriously but deep down they know it's just entertainment and a hobby basically but political fans they will build their whole life and identity around this and then think they're special for doing it. It's sad.

The only interesting thing about this situation is how the security team failed so badly but there haven't been any answers yet on that end so I'm kinda losing interest in that too.

They transitioned a little as more information came out, first I was glad he was ok of course and it looked like the secret service was doing a good job escorting him out of the building. Then I learned more details about the weapon and the secret service and now I am full of questions. Like first of all AR-15's are a sign of accelerationist groups since they recommend them to vulnerable people they are convincing to commit a shooting. They pick it because its a gun good at sparking debates. BX has a good video on this as she has been researching it for a while. I watched that just this week so when I saw it was an AR-15 some red flags went off in my head that there is probably more behind it than a single guy with an insane idea.

Then today the videos come out how long that roof was unprotected for, all the crowds pointing it out and the plenty of time to take action. I'm not saying they should have shot the guy for merely being on the roof for a weapon, for all you know it was indeed part of the security personell and you don't want to be trigger happy. But if an unidentified guy is on the roof with a rifle that people aren't briefed on they should immediately have escorted Trump out, identified who it was, jailed him for trying and then bring Trump back in.

Whole thing could have been very easily avoided, and for me that means things don't add up. Who motivated the attacker to do it? Why was security so negligent, etc. They allowed this to happen, now I want to know why.

It was a very delayed reaction. Very slow. No one knew anything.

Here is how it was in the old days.

"We interrupt this program for the following news announcement"..."Ladies and gentlemen, we have reports that the former president has been shot. I repeat the former president has been shot... etc."

I was scrolling on my phone and I checked the news and the headline said: "Trump rally cancelled due to incident." Nothing else. I just thought, that is odd. I wonder what the "incident" was. Some time later they updated with a picture of Trump with the secret service. It looked red on the side of his face but I wasn't 100% sure it wasn't glare or some red reflection. I considered it could be blood and thought. Did the SS rough him up while grabbing him to protect him? Did someone throw something at him? It wasn't until they started airing the footage and you could hear the pops and see him grab his ear did I clearly recognize someone shot at him and he was hit.

I wondered how anyone got a gun close enough to do that. I was glad he lived. I'm still holding out hope someone who loves the country gets in office who will shut down the invasion at the border and start deporting all of these invaders. Immigration should be maybe 30,000-50,000 a year total, of people we vet and know and have deemed non threats who want to be Americans. Not millions and millions of unchecked invaders who could be terrorists, rapists, gang members, criminals, drug traffickers, human traffickers, who transform the European Enlightenment society into 50 balkanized cultures that war with each other. People that use up tax payer services, can't speak the language, couldn't care less about the American history or culture. You can't just dump endless millions of foreigners into a sovereign country and not ruin it.

We didn't even know Trump was having a rally, then my mom said, "He's bleeding from the ear." We thought something exploded. And even the reporters didn't know at first that he had been shot.

To me I truly expected it at some point. I am glad that he was not seriously injured. I am sorry that one man lost his life and two others were seriously wounded. President Trump narrowly missed death and that gives me pause.

One of the first reports was from an eyewitness with others who stood nearby the assailant said plainly that when he pointed him out to the police (also standing nearby) they looked away in the other direction and acted as if they didn't know what he was talking about. Also agreed, the secret service detail failed to 1) spot the assailant as is their job, and 2) acted poorly. Surprised it hadn't happened sooner. But glad he's OK. Also I was surprised to see Trump pumping his fist to the crowd afterwards. I don't know if it just hasn't hit him how lucky he was. I wouldn't have the brass balls to do that. And Trump never struck me as a guy who was ok with dying a martyr for the MAGA cause.
