A friend of mine on here left a comment about getting a citation for "failure to wear a seatbelt". He said he has a habit of taking it off a few seconds before pulling into a driveway or parking lot. This time he was pulled over in a hotel parking lot seconds after taking it off, so, technically, he was breaking the law. It was a $125 fine. Do any of you have a similar story? He did admit he got lippy with the cop lol

A long time ago I was driving in a school zone & got pulled over on a holiday for speeding through a school zone with lights flashing & I was doing 43 MPH Long story short I got a ticket & I did not sign it because I felt I was not guilty & the speed limit was 45 MPH on the road & being that it was a holiday the lights in the school zone shouldn’t have been flashing because school was not in session. The next day I went down to the courthouse & had my ticket dismissed due to a malfunctioning & false signal or something like that.

Nope just a stupid cop who’s ego was bruised when he heard my tires screech (needed new tires) in front of his Holiness

Oh, shit! I squeal my tires just about every time I take off from a green light and I do worry if a cop is around. My brother got a ticket once for "reckless driving" because of it. I don't have a lead foot but I do push down pretty hard when it's time to go lol
- 1 y
Thats exactly what happened with me. I was at a light and didn't know a cop was behind me and when it turned green i pressed the gas and my tires screeched
- 1 y
Yea the cop tired to make up some bullshit to give me a ticket like reckless driving but yea i fought that shit in court and won
- 1 y
My brother went to court and had it reduced to "inattentive driving" lol Reckless driving is a hefty fine! I think his was close to $300! Plus, he would have lost 4 points? Or something like that. He probably would have lost his license lol but yeah, he went to court and they reduced it. He didn't care about the money, he just didn't wanna be suspended.
- 1 y
Yea they tried a desperate pathetic move like that with me and said they will lower the charge if I plead guilty to speeding and take a safety class as if they are doing me a favor! Lmfao i pat on that deal and forced them to go to court were the reduce it anyway so i would be denied a public defender and had to represent myself. Lesson here always fight it if you really are innocent or you know they dont have enough evidence! And never take their pathetic trojan horse of a plea deal

The Justice system is extremely flawed and corrupt where only the very poor and mentally unstable are punished and the wealthy get away with murder

Thanks for the MHO by the way! ❤️

I've had a couple of speeding tickets. The funniest thing I got pulled over for was a busted headlight. The cop pulled me over, told me I was breaking the law so I simply walked to the front of the car, hit the light and it came on. Loose wire.
The cop was unhappy so told me friends to get out of the car.
A Peugeot 205. Not a huge vehicle. I had two in the front passenger seat, five on the back seat and two in the boot. Plus me as driver. It was 3am and we'd been on Dartmoor for a prayer meeting.
So I had to be breathalyser tested because that sounded crazy. I don't drink. Seatbelt laws just say they have to be worn, not that everyone has to wear them. There's no law (or not then, anyway) says you can't put people in the boot as long as it's voluntary, and it was before they started trying to limit how many people could ride in a vehicle.
No laws were actually broken but the jerk cop tried to get me on something. Nothing stuck so we all piled back in the little car and went home!10 Reply
1 yI got an excess tire noise ticket once because the gas station had just rinsed down its payment and as I left the station my tires spun on the road due to being wet, a cop was behind me as this happened and followed me for several blocks before pulling me over. He claimed I was speeding and I said that I was not, he said he had to speed up to catch me and I informed him that if we both were going the speed limit he'd follow me all night unless he speed up to catch me. He took my information and gave me the ticket for excess tire noise. No I did not fight it as I saw no way to win. In court the officers word is always taken over his victims.

I had mentioned that I squeal my tires quite a bit when a light turns green. I'm always quick to go and give it a little too much gas lol My brother squealed his tires and got a three hundred dollar fine for "reckless" driving. He did take it to court, mainly because his license would probably have been suspended. He had it reduced to "inattentive" driving.
I once received a ticket for parking in a "No Parking" zone in a very small municipality that was regionally infamous for their police department's shenanigans.
The yellow paint on the curb was so worn away that it was barely visible even upon very close inspection.
I fought it and won.
The municipality eventually disincorporated.21 Reply- 1 y
Do you ever watch Parking Wars on A&E? Lol I work in San Diego and have had my share of them! It's so bad, that my company spent a good chunk of money for permanent passes. Parking authority sucks!
Just last year I got the dumbest ticket ever and I had to pay a fine , for my German Shepard barking at my neighbor , I got a ticket for Animal out of control, just because my dog barked at her , The lady is a wack job I could understand if it ran up on her and attacked her but barking? Stupidest ticket I ever received

OMG! Are you serious? I would say, as a first offense, 99.9% of the time a cop would give you a warning and also tell your neighbor she is a WHACK job. That is by far the dumbest ticket I've heard of.
- 1 y
Yea she is cop happy , calls the cops on every little thing , she needs to be locked up in a mental ward , all my other neighbors can’t stand her and told me to stay away from her as much as possible , which I do my best to , The cops did tell me if she keeps continuing to call them on me , I can file for harassment and press charges on her ass , so she hasn’t bothered me since
1 yNot me personally, but one guy in my class got pulled over on the highway for something and he took his seat belt off and the cop gave him an additional ticket for not wearing a seat belt.
But my favorite was when my dad got a ticket for running a red light and in the picture you can clearly see he's stopped at the intersection and there's even a cop right next to him😂 There were many complaints about that particular traffic cam. It was taking pictures of people who weren't actually running the red light. He would've won that case so easily even without a lawyer, but he figured he would spend more money going to court then actually paying the ticket, so he paid it. I personally would've fought it. To me, principle is more important than money, but his record was already bad so I guess he didn't care. But I think the city finally did something about it, because there were so many complaints.10 Reply- 826 opinions shared on Trending & News topic.
1 yI have been driving since 1990s and have not gotten a ticket. I won't either kuz i am a nerd.
I did argue with a driving teacher about stoppping... it went to zero but he said it didn't count as stopping. Of course during the drive test i actually stopped.

u 1 yNot from law enforcement per se, but from one of these "beloved" automated red light cameras. I was in a massive traffic jam, moving like molasses and got stuck over the line when the next red light phase came on. It came in the mail with a fine and a 30 days driving ban. I disputed it at the responsible police station and they took back the driving ban, which was good enough for me.

1 yI've never gotten a ticket, I was close tho once when I was swerving on the highway and legit cut off a female cop, I said I was late for work, she was kind enough to only particially yell at me and give me a warning 😂
20 Reply352 opinions shared on Trending & News topic. Same thing seatbelt violation. Cop pulled me over and I was on my way to a movie. Cop was playing 20 questions with me. At the time I didn't think anything of it but I think he was trying to come up with a reason to search my car. And when he couldn't he hit me with a seat belt violation to justify the stop. I think I was being profiled because of the car I was driving.
I just paid the fine and moved on. I have fought tickets before.

1 yWhen I was 15, I jumped my neighbors fence (they just moved and hated kids) and they called the cops! I got a $65 fine for "trespassing"! The cop was a complete prick

1 yI was on a road where its just fenced off forest on the right side and work places + streets with houses on the left. A school bus stopped and i got an airiel ticket for not stopping when the bus was just beginning to open its doors. Kids dont come out of the forest and hop fences to get on the bus. I just payed it because if i do it won't possibly show on my driving record amd im a professional driver.

I simply ignored my letter box,

They can block you leaving called apb or something.
A roommate stole my suitcase for his trip out of the country. I called cops to tattle and that he was leaving the country... they blocked his exit and he missed his flight.
German public administration is slow :D
In your own (suit) case you already triggered action.
Where a German admin clerk first would have had to issue a bundle of papers and ex-Prussian procedures.
only ever got one in 55 years driving, for speeding

Did you deserve it? 🤣🤣 My brother worked in Texas for a few months and would get pulled over going ONE mph over! We're from CA and they give us five, six, over lol He didn't get a ticket but was pissed for even getting pulled over.
- 1 y
I do remember him saying that they find any reason to pull you over because it's kind of a drug trafficking area.

My soon to be hubby restores old cars and something tells me a '73 Dodge charger would make him salivate lol I know he's restored some old Chargers and I love how the newer ones look like older Chargers. I chose a Mustang! They're sharp looking cars and have that "old" model look to them.
Your friend is a dumbass. Why would you take your seat belt off before the vehicle is stopped?

Like it is for the wearer benefit so should be allowed to risk himself. Unlikely to get hurt.
It is not like other laws to deter hurting others! It is a bs law. - 1 y
@strateguy632 exactly! I'm a man and real men don't wear seatbelts.
