Visibility at my house is down to less than900 feet. Snowing harder than I've ever seen in my life (im 44 years old) and wind gusting to around 20mph right now, so not "quite" blizzard here, but it is an NWS officially classified blizzard warning from beaumont to lafayette, which is only about 80 miles west of me.

It is always bad when an area that dont get freezing temps suddenly gets hit by a blizzard. While it is too late to prepare once it already happens it is still worthwhile to read up on cold weather preparations and disaster relief. I also suggest you stay off the roads since even if you know how to drive on snow and ice you probably dont have winter tires and the people you share the roads with definitely dont.
I also suggest you make preparations for this in the future. Thanks to global warming we are going to experience a lot more extreme weather which includes sudden appearances of extreme cold. More than ever before it pays to be ready for any disaster going forward.
Snowball fights in cajun country! Have fun and enjoy as I am sure it will be totally gone in a day or two at most.
This is not funny. I have to tend to farm animals and the temperature is going to be 6f tonight at my house.
Hope it all works out for you!
It's negative 4 (-4) degrees F in Louisiana in Opelousas and only 10F in Springfield near where I live. It's not going to warm up for another 36 hours either.
The all-time record low for Louisiana is -13 in 1914 during a VOLCANIC WINTER.
