A young 16 year old gill was shot and killed yesterday in the Bronx. Anyone else still believe there shouldn't be stronger gun laws?

Evette Jeffrey was shot in the head and died outside Bronx Latin School on Monday. She was an innocent bystander when a 14 year old boy obtained a gun and shot indiscriminately into the crowd.

I believe in being hard on criminals, regardless of their age.

So with that said, who in their right mind would think that we don't need stronger gun control laws? It's very simple -- you get caught with a firearm you're not allowed to have and you go to prison for a minimum of say, twenty years. No getting off for good behavior. And, while you're incarcerated, you're considered legalized slavery. You work your ass off to cover your overhead. That's right. You work until you drop and then your whipped until you get up and work some more. Hard? Yes; but my guess is that few would risk having an illegal firearm.

No one gives a shit about a bronxs girl getting shot. In the eyes of politicians it's one less shoplifter, one less junkie. Same with the cousin humping hillbilly types, the government doesn't care if they kill each other. America's gun freedom is entirely based on the fact those at the top don't care how many at the bottom die.

As if laws stop criminals? You think a law will stop a criminal? Most people with knives are trusted and same most people with guns do not use them for crimes. So can't ban knives and guns just due to a few criminals.

So what if the laws were stronger? Put some teeth into the punishment! Don't try him as a juvenile but as an adult. Life in prison without the possibility of parole. And then force him into legalized slavery for the system so it doesn't cost the tax payer for his incarceration.

No change in our system is going to be perfect. I suppose, as you suggest, go to the ultra-extreme and, just as important, don't drag the sentencing out for 20 years.

If one is kept in confinement, make it hard. No setting around a cell for 23/24 hours a day. The inmates are forced to work. Make it harsh and let it be seen!!

My guess is that most would not want the risk of being harshly punished and would be more likely to not carry knowing so.

The bottom line is that we need a societal shift.
1) Get these children off these anti depression meds
2) Get the black community to start changing its culture.

Can a child or pre-teen or, especially, a teenager care about consequences? Absolutely! It's why, as a child is young, a good parent disciplines or rewards certain actions.

Society needs to make the punishment harsh enough and visual enough that most wouldn't want to risk the penalty.

And that has nothing to do with skin color or medication.

73.6% of all statistics are made up and unverifiable. So, actually, based upon those "facts" I'd suggest it's not with one particular race or any particular form of medication.

The proper solution is establishing strong laws with severe penalties that many would not want to endure.

What is never acceptable is a bigoted stance against any particular race within society. That really does become atrocious and, in itself, becomes part of an overall problem.
