Did you watch the Artemis 2 launch?

The Artemis 2 spacecraft was launched today. It's 10 day mission will be to rea h the moon and orbit around it and return to Earth. They are testing the spaceship for a future moon landing.

Yes I did. It's good we're going back to the moon with people after 54 years, but I'm disappointed the SLS uses old technology. Of the 4 main booster engines, 3 flew on the space shuttle (which was retired in 2011) and the fourth was cobbed together from spare space shuttle parts. And those engines don't have the required power so they have to use two solid rocket boosters (SRBs).

I'm betting NASA will go with SpaceX and Blue Origin when it comes time to actually building a base on the moon. Artemis/SLS is really just to satisfy the politicians that allocated the money... years ago.

I was watching. It's a big event, for the first time since 1972 people are looking up close at the moon. It has a special meaning for me and every Czech - one of the last astronauts to do this was the Czech-American Eugene Cernan

I watched a replay on Youtube. Amazing.

My day was lead machinist for the experimental machine lab at North American Rockwell that was later taken over by Boeing. He worked on all the space vehicles - Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and the Shuttle, so I was really into it and watched all those launches.

So far, this trip is going very smoothy. 15,000 mph, wow! I'll be interested in hearing when they encounter the Van Allen Belt.
