Are you following the Artemis II mission and the stunning moon views?

yes, I have been... since day one
mostly, I read about the updates on many live-feeds that keep tracking it... and from time to time, I just watch and listen to the NASA stream on YouTube
just some seconds ago... they reached the closest point to the moon they will reach on this particular mission (around 4060 miles off the far side of the moon we never really see) and they're taking a whole lot of picture too... lol
this one is a funny one...

Not really. I know the moon from down here.
Anyhow... another "Houston. We have a problem" would be cool to see.
It's a little like motorbike racing: you want to see something spectecular and unusual.
One - for the money. Two - for the show. Three - to get ready... now Four, let's go
Nope. I've seen some of the photos which look cool but I'm not interested enough to actively follow any of it.
I have been! It's incredibly fascinating. We had the stream of the flyby yesterday up on our tv's at work.
The moon always looks insanely cool 🤯🌕 Artemis II makes it even more exciting, knowing humans are actually going back around it. Those recent high-res shots and simulations are so cinematic, they feel like frames from a sci‑fi movie 🎬✨
I love watching the live streams or NASA clips at night with the lights off. The moon totally steals the show every time 😍🌌

It i very cool. He is a link to the bigger picture that NASA has and how Artemis II fits in:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/5fEFuo5wuZoI check in with Artemis a couple times a day... to see how it's doing. The moon views are interesting but I haven't seen anything really new.
Watching the 4 astronauts in the Orion capsule is the most interesting.
Not really. Where's the actual livestream? ISS has shown better shit for over a decade! Hell the moon was overvisited by the early 80's. Should have been a orbit of Venus, Nasa talking about future Mars visits..
The livestream is on nasas website and youtube..
Wireless connections are always going to be shit, there is far too much interference. Can't make interference disappear.
The ISS is only 400km from earth...
It takes months to get to Venus 🙃
Going to the moon is how we learn how to get to other planets. Much safer to test technology with a 10 day round trip than a 10 month one.
10 months? An estimated journey to Mars is 7 which would be a round trip for Venus. We as humans played out the moon in the 70's, ok early 80's. It's time to get more bold about space exploration. These astronauts understand the risks and put their lives on the line every blast off.
10 months round trip to Venus, it takes 3-5 months to get there. Nobody mentioned Mars.
We are visiting the moon again to do research on further space exploration. The trips to the moon before were incredibly advanced for the time, its insane that we were able to do it with the technology that we had at the time. Now we know much more we can get more out of the trip
I wish they took all that money they spent on this worthless shit and spent it on life.
Well, they sort of are, if you think about...
At some point, the Earth will become uninhabitable when the Sun goes nova (or even before that). All life on Earth will die.
Therefore, if you want human life to continue, then we need to find a way to make humans move to and live in other solar systems. Well, every journey, no matter how long, has to begin with those first early steps.
Artemis II is among those very first early steps toward human interstellar colonization which will be necessary for the survival of the human species.
In short, it's an investment in our future.
@Friendlybro79 I agree; we have the money to transform the world into a much better place.
But, that's irrelevant.
The Sun WILL go nova and this planet WILL become uninhabitable no matter what we do. Therefore, for the human race to live beyond that moment, we must, as a species, spread beyond this solar system. We can't do that yet. But it will take generations of effort before we can do that. And every undertaking has begin sometime.
Yes. I do know. I've had a physics degree for 41 years and later worked at The Aerospace Corporation, an space think tank. I know a great deal about space - probably more than anyone else here.
Let's pretend it's 1850 and you live in NY.
The 1850 version of you asks:
"Do you have any idea how long it would take to get to California?"
I reply: "3 months in a covered wagon if your lucky."
But I understand this concept of trains... With trains, we could make that trip in days, ... if we have the tracks and supporting infrastructure to do so. So, I am happy to invest in railroads.
That's how a lot of people felt because they understood the value of investment for the future.
That's why "The Golden Spike" was laid down in 1869. Now we can get across the county by train in 3 days... and by plane in 5 hours.
You don't make the future happen unless you invest in the future today.
I was the multiplication champion in the 6th grade so I can relate with your physics background hahaha jk of course.
@Staximus
"We will be long extinct by the time the sun consumes the Earth."
I don't necessarily agree with that although, based on history, that's likely. However, no species has had the power and knowledge that we have.
"We just have to stop being stupid and destroying this planet."
I agree.
Don't tell me.
Tell the GOP and their voters.
Yes, they have just gone into radio silence after going around the back side of the moon.
I watched them blast off into outer space and watched that launch over and over again.
I saw the trailer for this movie 57+ years ago.
If you'll be my baby...
Wars, threat of nuclear Armageddon, astronauts going to the moon, it’s the 60’s all over again except in 4k
Kinda, I wonder if this is all just to introduce aliens to humanity 😂
It's awesome inspiring. 1000 miles an hour, how incredible our technology is now since Apollo
Awe inspiring... Stupid auto correct.
The pictures are incredible. I'm enjoying them.
yeah, just started the other day. Loving it so far
No. Space is fake and gay. It's just another distraction for room temp IQ people. Stupid.
All people voluntarily leaving the Earth's atmosphere are fools
blockheads
Yes live as we speak.
Yes, I kinda like it.
I am. It's such an amazing accomplishment.
I’m a little irritated about their toilet problems. I thought astronauts were smarter than that. All they have to do is jiggle the handle, and it’ll be fine.
Do tell!
Yes I'd love to space walk in the buff
Absolutely amazing!
Heard about it but not following
Just heard about it today lol
Yes I am!
Nope
Nope
Yes it does
Yes.
