Not in the slightest. He is being publicly laughed at all over Chinese media.

The only intimidating thing about Trump to China is that they have no faith at all in him keeping any promises or deals he makes.

At the same time he is the most gullible world leader to ever occupy a position to important. So there are no better time to make a profitable deal.

Xi jinping outright insulted and belittled both Trump and China. While this might be business as usual in the US for the rest of the world a politican delivering insults in front of cameras is a major statement.

It does not help that USA's spoken about leverage is... tariffs. Which they already attempted once against China last year and lost immediately. Short of threatening nuclear wear, the Trump administration has no advantages to be capitalized on.

China won't forcibly take taiwan, they want it intact like they did with Hong Kong. Taiwan is part of china after all and very wealthy and technologically advanced. They can see the debacle Russia has gotten itself into in Ukraine and all their failures.

China could take over Hong Kong because they negotiated that with Great Britain. Also, HK was too small to fight back, even if they wanted to. Both do not apply to Taiwan. Also Taiwan observed closely how the promised democracy was destroyed in HK over the last 20 years. They won't let that happen to them and with reliable partners (i. e. not Trump) it won't happen to them.

China could take over Hong Kong because the British had leased it from the Qing Dynasty for 99 years and they were given it back in 1997 as the lease was up.

The Communist Party of China did not even try to invade Hong Kong when they were at war with the British in the korean war with each side taking over 100,000 casualties to each other each and Hong Kong being a major logistics base and staging ground for the British.
The same reason Communist China didn't invade Hong Kong is the same reason they won't invade Taiwan, they dont want to destroy a wealthy part of china. They will play the long game in Taiwan, things may change in the Republic of China one day and they may become more receptive to joining the People's Republic of China and bring a united country once again.
Thing about democracy is that the possibility of the people voting to end it can happen and communist parties are legal in taiwan.
