You're forgetting that Trump and Bessant ARE manipulating the market. But they cannot manipulate or bullshit supply for long.

It doesn't matter if the price is 100 dollars a barrel or 1000 dollars a barrel - if you have no barrels!

Right now the US is stealing from tankers and dipping into reserves. But those are running dry quickly and it's just a matter of time before winter hits and that supply shock hits.
