Valentine’s Day some people love it, others think it’s just a commercial gimmick. But is it really a beautiful celebration of love, or just another reason to spend money?

For many, Valentine’s Day feels overly commercialized. Shops are filled with heart-shaped chocolates, overpriced flowers, and cheesy gifts. It raises the question does love really need all of this? The pressure to create the “perfect” day can be stressful, and not everyone can have a Hollywood-style romantic moment. Some even argue that if you truly love someone, you don’t need a specific date to show it.

A Reminder to Appreciate Love
On the other hand, Valentine’s Day can be a beautiful reminder to appreciate our loved ones. Life gets busy, and sometimes we forget to slow down and cherish those closest to us. It doesn’t have to be about expensive gifts a heartfelt letter, a cozy homemade dinner, or a fun date night can be just as meaningful. And let’s be honest, a little extra romance never hurts!

To me it’s overrated. This is more about women than men. These companies play on women’s emotions. You don’t see too many commercials that say give your man a Rolex or a diamond ring for Valentine’s Day. It’s usually commercials directed toward men as far as getting her something. If you don’t get her something more than likely she’ll get her feelings hurt, her friends will call you a cheap ass husband or boyfriend. Most women will likely think the same way.

I am a bit cynical about Valentine's Day. It feels like it is a day men are supposed to celebrate women, but not the reverse. It's mostly a one way street.

I'll admit a had a few nice Valentine holidays with an ex girlfriend and the first couple with my wife were nice but after a few years it gets boring and you realize it is just something made up "prompting" people to be romantic on a specific date.

Once you've done it a few times then you've kind of been there and done that.
