How do single people spend valentines day?

Question

I'm currently single and I've never had a relationship or done any kind of dating. I definitely have a small desire for a relationship but I don't think I'm ready for anything too major or serious.

As you can probably guess from this, I've never really done anything specific for valentines day before. However this year I'm interested in doing something for valentines as a single guy. What are peoples ideas, and if you're single, what's your go-to thing to do on valentines day?

I used to have a party or go out with friends. One year we did an anti-valentines day at a shooting range. One year we had a great British baking show party. One year we organized our own stoplight party. We always had fun. It's good to spend the day with people you love, even if it's not a romantic kind of love!

Usually for valentines day I pamper myself 😂 I always get a nice soap for my bath and a bath bomb. Then I'll makw myself a nice dinner and watch either comedies or romantic films with my dog. However this year I'm staying at my best friend's house.

What I did today:
- Woke up
- Ignored the text messages from guys saying "happy Valentine's Day" because I didn't want them to ask to meet up (I live on-campus now so I don't have much of an excuse)
- Ate Mac and Cheese (I woke up at 1pm)
- Got my bag and suitcase ready to go home for the weekend
- Went to go eat lunch; collected apples to bring home bc my sister wants them
- Took an uber home
- Put apples in the fridge for my sister
- Went to sleep bc I only got a few hours of sleep last night bc I went to bed late & had to be up early (yes 1pm is early for me)

I pretty much do the same thing I would any other day. That was actually how I preferred to keep it in relationships as well, but the guy was always super wrapped up in it (I actually forgot about Valentine's Day in my first relationship until the very last minute, lol).

Otherwise, I look forward to the day after candy sale. I love assorted chocolates!

This year, however, I'm spending a couple of days with a friend, though it's not really a Valentine's Day thing, but more of a Friday night/weekend thing. It's going to be fun!

I don't have the freedom to do this anymore since my boss always gives me unpleasant hours but before I got this job - I would spend every major holiday I could afford dining out during holidays - not all the time but maybe a valentines day or two I'd visit a nacho place for dinner

I dropped by a cafe (just give yourself a little treat). Then I ate chocolates. I usually just let people know I love and appreciate them as friends and family. Tomorrow I’m having a “Galentine’s Day” brunch. This will probably include taking advantage of the half priced chocolates.

Just another day marketed to make people believe there's another day they should spend money on love ones. Roses are ridiculously overpriced. My mother hated getting a dozen roses her birthday or Valentine's day when she would rather you buy her a rose bush that she could plant in the yard so she can enjoy it all year long and that's exactly what I got her every Valentine's day.
