He does something, then I think he's upset so I try to figure out what's wrong, then he won't talk or says he's fine and it just makes me crazy.
What do I do? How can I make us stop fighting? Am I just making things worse?
Maybe it's his diet. Usually people who eat really poor quality foods tend to have shorter tempers and generally snap at people they feel most comfortable with (bit of an oxymoron huh?). There's also the possibility that he hasn't been getting enough sleep recently. I know from personal experience that if I'm feeling tired I can also be easily irritated.
Then again, there's always a chance that he's getting tired of you, or tired of a annoying habit that you may have and he may feel bad explaining what it is that's bothering him.
Maybe he's got something that drives him mad. When we get upset about something and we are asked what's wrong, we tend to get even more angry. Try to avoid talking to him about the subject, and when you see him in a good mood, just ask him what was wrong with him a few days ago.
