My style of dressing is punk. I wear band shirts, tight jeans and my docs. (I have them in red black blue green) and I love them but my guy friends say that the way I dress intimidates guys and that's why "normal" looking guys won't ask me out, which I think is stupid and don't want to change my style. So are guys cool with a girl dressing like this or do they prefer the whole Barbie look

you shouldn't change what you wear and what you feel most comfortable wearing to find a guy. if you want a guy to like you for you, keep on rocking what you got going on. every guy is attracted to different things. if you have a certain style it might just take a bit longer to find that guy that digs that style. (PS you don't want to look like the other "barbie" girls, having a style that's a little different will catch the eyes of a guy)

If you feel comfortable with how you dress then you should be fine. Changing your style for a guy is like changing your personality, because how you dress has a lot to do with how you feel (atleast for me). I think being yourself is the best way to find the guy you want.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a girl wearing docs. If that's what you want to wear, wear them. If a guy is that turned off by your personal style, he's not worth your time anyway--the way you dress reflects your personality.

First impressions do count BUT as long as you have a smile on your face and look approachable then there's no reason why you should be intimidating to men.

I also used to be in to the whole "punk" thing as a teen and wore docs all the time, never did it put off men who were worth knowing.

Ask yourself, do you judge men on what they wear? Do they portray a certain image? Is it off-putting? Is it right that I'm put off?

Me, I don't care what people wear. As long as they're clean it's fine with me.

You just need to weigh up what you prefer - the way you dress or a man who judges you on that.

I'm kind of shocked that someone who dresses so free is concerned with what people think. but umm, to answer the question, the vast majority of guys do prefer the more natural girls. then again, the vast majority of girls don't dress edgy;punk. it's unique.
You shouldn't have to change your style, it's you. Unless you started dressing that way to attract a certain kind, in which case, I think you should do some soul searching and find out who you are and portray that in your style ;) Your friend is right, you do scare off the normal guys because combat boots screams something along the lines of "hard. mean. NOT easy. I'm not gonna get laid. if I even survive" haha. seriously. Plus like I mentioned, most guys prefer their girls to be a bit more nude-faced, and I assume with your look you've got the make-up to match

So bottom line, don't change who you are to ever attract someone. Because if you change it, and attract someone, they're not really attracted to YOU. they're attracted to this style you're falsely portraying. Be true to yourself, a guy who's equally edgy will find you and think you're perfect

Hey if the "normal" guys are not able to see what is behind your shoes, then they're simply not worth it ! Keep wearing them as a jerk-filter :) !
